摘要:
The invention relates to a hub for magnetic tape cassettes, especially compact cassettes, and to magnetic tape cassettes possessing such hubs. In a first embodiment, spring means are provided on the inner periphery of the hub and exert radial pressures on the drive spindle, the spring means consisting, for example, of sprung teeth. In a further embodiment, the teeth have a spring rate of from about 1 P/mm to 40 P/mm. In another embodiment, the hub consists of an inner part and an outer part which can be coupled to one another and between which there is some play after coupling. A large number of specific examples of hubs are given to show possible shapes and arrangements of the teeth, and to show the types of material that can be used. In an advantageous embodiment, the inner part of the two-part hub can also be made a part of the drive spindle on the recorder, which inner part can be coupled with the outer part when the drive spindle enters the cassette.

In a magnetic tape cassette, especially a compact cassette, at least one hole in the conventional liners is provided, according to the invention, with at least one raised edge portion which is located between the aperture in the housing wall for admitting the drive spindle and the inner wall of the hub, and serves as a resilient support for the hub.

A tape cassette, in particular a video cassette, comprises two flanged reels and, between the flanges of each reel, a spring member as a biassing means to prevent the tape from slipping off the roll or folding over. The spring members can be attached to the side walls or rear wall of the housing, and their free ends constantly bear against the peripheries of the tape rolls. In specific embodiment the spring member advantageously includes the braking spring for a reel-braking device. By using a conductive material on one or both sides of the spring member and appropriately arranging the spring member relative to a tape guide element or to an element grounded on the tape recorder, it is possible to directly prevent tape loop formation, which is a cause of tape slippage and folding-over. Moreover, tape winding and unwinding are improved.

A magnetic tape cartridge having at least one tape pack contains liners which form guide channels for the outer turns of the pack and/or for magnetic tape being wound or unwound and also include resilient sections for locating the tape pack and/or the winding hub in the central plane of the cartridge. The magnetic tape cartridge of the invention can be used with particular advantage as a compact cassette beacause of its outstanding reliability in operation.

Guide elements for magnetic tapes wound or to be wound in the form of packs on flangeless spools, the guide elements being movable in the plane of rotation of the packs. At least part of the guide elements is located between the pack and the outermost winding and thus constantly guides the tape as it is wound or unwound, resulting in optimal tape guidance and consequently in a stable and accurate winding on the spool.
摘要:
The invention relates to magnetic tape cartridges in general in which between the tape packs and the upper and lower cartridge walls liners are provided which have regions that resiliently guide the tape packs and/or the magnetic tape. By means of specifically shaped regions of the liners, guide channels for the outer turns of the tape pack and/or for the winding or unwinding magnetic tape are formed according to the invention. By virtue of particular spatial arrangements of these guide channels, slipping and folding of the turns of tape already wound is avoided and the magnetic tape is maintained in the correct position as it leaves and joins the packs, irrespective of the type of bearing means used for the tape winding reels and irrespective of the shape of the tape packs, so that disturbances in operation are avoided and the tape is correctly positioned relative to the scanning means. Cartridges according to the invention may be employed advantageously in the recording and reproduction of audio and other signals.

A process for the production of magnetic recording media by applying a magnetic layer, which consists essentially of magnetic material finely dispersed in organic polymers, to one side of a flexible base, and applying a non-magnetizable backing coating which is free of inorganic solids to that side of the base which is opposite the magnetic layer, wherein the backing coating consists of two or more polymers which are incompatible with one another and have precipitated from a solvent mixture, and magnetic recording media produced by this process.
