    摘要: A hybrid optical/electrical connector and mated adapter for terminating at least one hybrid optical/electrical cable containing an optical fiber and a conductor. The connector includes a crimp body having an elongated conductive insert with an interior passage for receiving the optical fiber and a non-conductive shell covering the insert. The insert has a contact portion exposed through the shell and an end extending beyond the shell for electrical engagement with the hybrid cable conductor. The adapter includes a non-conductive housing with a plug connector receiving channel. Within the plug receiving channel, a conductor extends longitudinally. The conductor has a contact point within the channel in alignment with the exposed contact portion of the insert so that when the connector is inserted within the receiving channel, the exposed contact portion of the insert and the conductor contact point of the adapter are in electrical engagement with one another.

    摘要: A fiber optic connector module is provided for assembly at a rear face of a fiber optic connector assembly. The module includes a ferrule terminated to at least one optical fiber. A housing is spaced behind the ferrule and includes a rear end exposed at said rear face of the connector assembly. An extender member is removably attached to the housing at the rear end thereof and extends away from the rear face of the connector assembly for facilitating manipulation of the connector module.

    摘要: A fiber optic connector assembly includes an outer connector housing defining an optic axis. An inner optical fiber plug is mounted in the housing for limited axial movement therein and for rotational movement angularly of said axis. An indexing or locking mechanism is provided between the plug and the housing to hold the plug in selected rotational positions of adjustment angular of the optic axis. Axial movement of the plug within and relative to the housing is effective to disengage the lock or indexing mechanism and allow rotation of the plug. A retainer is selectively movable into engagement with the plug to prevent axial movement of the plug and, thereby, prevent disengagement of the lock or indexing mechanism, thereby fixing the rotational position of the adjustment of the plug.

    摘要: A fiber optic apparatus and method are provided for cross-connecting the individual optical fibers of a plurality of fiber optic ribbons. A plurality of individual optical fibers are routed on a flat substrate to form at least one first fiber optic ribbon leading onto the substrate and at least one second fiber optic ribbon leading away from the substrate to a terminating end of the ribbon. The individual optical fibers of at least the second fiber optic ribbon being routed in a predetermined sequence from one side of the ribbon to an opposite side thereof. The individual optical fibers at the terminating end of the second fiber optic ribbon are cut-off at different lengths in a predetermined pattern correlated to the predetermined sequence of fibers in order to visually identify any fiber which is out of the predetermined sequence.

    摘要: A fanout system is provided for a fiber optic cable which includes a plurality of optical fibers. A fiber optic ribbon includes a plurality of individual optical fibers adhered to a flat substrate in a generally parallel side-by-side array. The fibers are spread apart in a fanned-out array at an edge of the substrate. Loose ends of the fibers extend beyond the edge of the substrate. A plurality of tube members individually surround the loose ends of the fibers beyond the edge of the substrate. A protective transition member collectively surrounds the loose ends of the fibers at least in an area extending from the edge of the substrate to proximal ends of the tube members.

    摘要: An adapter assembly is provided for mating a fiber optic connector along an optic axis with a complementary connecting device. The assembly includes a pair of adapter halves secured together at an interface by means of a securing post projecting from one adapter half generally parallel to the optic axis and into a securing hole in the other adapter half. The securing post has a retaining hole extending transversely of the optic axis. The other adapter half has a passage extending from an outside wall into registry with the retaining hole in the securing post of the one adapter half when the post is inserted into the securing hole in the other adapter half. A securement pin is insertable through the passage in the other adapter half into the retaining hole in the securing post of the one adapter half to, thereby, secure the adapter halves in assembly.

    摘要: A connector ferrule is disclosed for a fiber optic ribbon cable which includes a plurality of generally parallel optical fibers in a line. A ferrule body receives the cable and includes a fiber passage which is elongated in cross-section to receive the line of optical fibers that are exposed by removing the jacket at an end portion of the fiber optic ribbon cable. A filler adhesive is disposed in the elongated fiber passage for fixing the fibers in the fiber passage in proper spaced relationship. Therefore, the line of fibers can be precisely aligned and relatively spaced from exteriorly of the fiber passage, and the filler adhesive can fix the fibers in that precise alignment and relative spacing interiorly of the fiber passage.

The end has on it a first layer of substantially transparent anti-reflective material, a second layer of light attenuating material on the first layer and a third layer of substantially transparent anti-reflective material over the second layer.
