The end has on it a first layer of substantially transparent anti-reflective material, a second layer of light attenuating material on the first layer and a third layer of substantially transparent anti-reflective material over the second layer. A fourth layer of substantially transparent, relatively hard scratch-resistant material may be added on the third layer.

摘要: An optical fiber connector assembly includes a housing having a forward end, a rearward end and an axially extending passageway therethrough. A ferrule assembly is mounted within the passageway and includes a forwardly projecting ferrule near a forward end of the connector assembly for axially receiving the fiber end of an optical fiber cable inserted into the passageway from the rearward end of the housing. A tube is removably positioned in the passageway, with a front end of the tube at the ferrule assembly and a rear end of the tube exposed at the rearward end of the housing for receiving epoxy injected into the tube. Therefore, the connector assembly can be substantially assembled and transported with the tube in position in the passageway, the epoxy later can be injected through the tube to the ferrule assembly. The tube then can be removed and the optical fiber cable can be inserted into the passageway into engagement with the injected epoxy.

摘要: A fiber optic connector defines an optical axis and includes a housing mounting a forwardly protruding ferrule. A bore extends axially through the housing and the ferrule for terminating a fiber optic cable, with an exposed optical fiber in the bore of the ferrule. A spring loaded gripping clamp is mounted on the housing for receiving and gripping the optical fiber when inserted into the ferrule. The spring loaded gripping clamp is movable between a normally closed position for gripping the fiber and an open position for receiving the fiber. An appropriate tool can be used in moving the gripping clamp to its open position.

摘要: A duplex connector system is provided for coupling two individual simplex fiber optic connectors in a side-by-side alignment. Each fiber optic connector includes a housing in which an optical fiber cable is terminated through a rear end of the housing. First and second strain relief boots are respectively interengageable with the housings of the connectors at the rear ends thereof and encompass the optical fiber cables. Resilient portions interconnect the first and second strain relief boots and are oriented therebetween for enabling the boots to hold the connectors in their side-by-side alignment while allowing relative motion between the connectors during mating and unmating process.

摘要: A fiber optic connector includes a body member having an axially extending cavity with a circumferential flange projecting radially into the cavity and defining a passage through the flange. The flange is slotted to define a plurality of radially inwardly extending flexible stop fingers. A ferrule is provided for mounting an optical fiber. A ferrule holder has a circumferential rib projecting radially outwardly therefrom to define a circumferential stop shoulder. The outside diameter of the rib is greater than the inside diameter of the passage. The ferrule holder can be axially assembled into the body member in a first, assembly direction by forcing the rib through the passage flexing the stop fingers. The ferrule holder is prevented from unforcibly moving in a second, opposite direction by engagement of the stop shoulder with the stop fingers. A spring is operatively associated between the ferrule holder and the body member to bias the ferrule holder in the second direction and, thereby, bias to the stop shoulder toward the stop fingers.

The connector includes a body having an end face for mating with the associated fiber optic transmission means, the end face traversing the optic axis. A fiber section is mounted in the body and includes a front fiber end and a rear fiber end. The front fiber end is adapted for mating with an end of the optical fiber of the associated fiber optic transmission means. The rear fiber end is at an angle to the optic axis to prevent light energy transmitted by the optical fiber from being reflected back toward the fiber and to protect an operator's eyes from the transmitted light energy.

The ejection mechanism can include a movable ejection button (118) having at least one wing (124) and a cover (112) having at least one first projection (130) and at least one second projection (138). When the ejection button is in a first position, the first projection of the cover can engage the wing of the ejection button, and the second projection can engage a slot (140) of a housing (114). The second projection engaging the slot of the housing can cause a force (F) to be generated at an opposing end (131) of the cover. Also, when the ejection button is moved to a second position, the first projection of the cover can disengage the wing of the ejection button, and the generated force can cause the cover to move away from the housing.
