From an optical disc drive, internal static electricity has to be discharged to the outside to prevent breakage of electric components such as laser diodes. A grounding spring has been used to discharge static electricity from a unit mechanism to the enclosure of the optical disc drive but it is necessary to improve the reliability of the drive in consideration of the dimensional accuracy and workability of the spring. Thus the free end of a grounding spring having a cantilever structure is shaped like an arc and an end of the grounding spring has a curved structure. This configuration improves the dimensional accuracy and workability of the spring, so that the performance of the optical disc drive can be more reliable.

At the end of disc loading, the first one, in a fixed position, contacts a peripheral side face of the optical disc at a first point thereon to support the disc; the second one has a plane opposite to the peripheral side face which contacts the peripheral side face of the optical disc at a second point to support the disc while restrained from moving away from the side face; the third one contacts the peripheral side face of the optical disc at a third point to support the disc while biased by a spring; and the fourth one contacts the side face at a fourth point while biased by a spring to support the disc, and is restrained from moving against the resilience of the spring. The disc, supported by those disc guides, is chucked by a clamper.

Since a disc vibrates in a natural mode at a predetermined rotation speed, a variation in a tilt of the disc relative to an optical head is caused. As a result, the read/write performance of a disc drive is deteriorated. The disc drive has a disc tilt database for recording a relative tilt angle of the disc in a tangential direction thereof associated with the disc natural mode and the disc rotation speed at which such tilt occurs, a circuit for detecting a disc rotation speed, and a tilt drive circuit. An objective lens is tilted so that the relative tilt angle is corrected, and thus, stable read/write performance of the disc drive is achieved.

The present invention provides an optical disk apparatus which allows for accurate centering of an optical disk regardless of its placed attitude and in which reliability of chucking operation has been improved, and the apparatus includes a first disk guide 41, a second disk guide 42, a third disk guide 43, and a fourth disk guide 44 for guiding the optical disk to a centering position, the guides being disposed in a chassis 20, and a cam member 47 disposed in the chassis 20, in which when the optical disk is guided to the centering position, the cam member 47 locks at least either the third disk guide 43 or the fourth disk guide 44 to restrain the optical disk from moving to an insertion direction thereof, then releasing the restraint at the time of chucking of the optical disk.

The guide support members attenuate vibrations propagating from the chassis toward the optical pickup, and heat generated by the optical pickup is dissipated through the heat transfer members into the chassis.

The tray has an opening at its center and partitions the housing in a vertical direction. A magnification setting unit sets the copy magnification. A speed change unit changes the moving speed of the carriage in accordance with the copy magnification, and when the set copy magnification is equal to or smaller than a certain magnification in reduction, changes the carriage moving speed to 1/n (n: a natural number larger than 1) from the relationship between the current magnification and the carriage moving speed. A preprocessing unit converts the electrical signal into a digital signal, has a line memory for storing 1-line input image data in the main scanning direction, performs arithmetic processing for multilevel n-line data in the main scanning direction to change the subscanning magnification in reduction, and outputs 1-line output image data in the main scanning direction. An image data processing unit performs predetermined image data processing including processing of receiving for each pixel the 1-line output image data in the main scanning direction output from the preprocessing unit, and converting the image data into binary data.
