    摘要： A sheet handling device includes a shaft, a roller, and a joint. The roller is detachably attached on an end portion of the shaft. The joint is mounted on the end of the shaft and has a claw at a tip of the joint. The claw of the joint is configured to position the roller in a thrust direction along the shaft while an inner circumferential surface of the roller is in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the shaft. The inner circumferential surface of the roller has a cylindrical shape.

    摘要： A sheet container includes a sheet loader, a pair of sheet regulators, a pressing member, and a pressing force adjusting device. The sheet loader is movable in a vertical direction and configured to load a sheet. The pair of sheet regulators is configured to regulate a position in a width direction of the sheet loaded on the sheet loader. The pressing member is disposed on at least one of the pair of sheet regulators and configured to press a lateral end face of the sheet, toward another one of the pair of sheet regulators in the width direction of the sheet. The pressing force adjusting device is configured to adjust pressing force generated by the pressing member to the sheet while maintaining a state in which the pressing member applies the pressing force to the sheet.

    摘要： A sheet feeder, which can be included in an image forming apparatus, includes a rotary body to contact and feed a recording medium to a downstream side along a sheet conveying path, a friction body disposed facing and contacting the rotary body with the sheet conveying path interposed therebetween, the friction body forming a separation nip region with the rotary body, a receiver to support the friction body at a position opposite to the separation nip region, and multiple projections to guide the recording medium toward the separation nip region. Each of the multiple projections extends toward the rotary body at respective axial ends of the rotary body and has a top face disposed upstream from the separation nip region in a sheet conveying direction between an outer circumferential surface of the rotary body and a surface of the friction body.

In such an image forming apparatus, the controller starts driving of the sheet feed roller to feed the recording medium and stops driving of the sheet feed roller before the sheet feed roller has completed conveyance of the recording medium for a distance equal to a length of the settable minimum-sized recording medium in the conveyance direction.

The planar member includes a cutout opening in an upper end of the planar member, a lower edge of the opening forms a pull-out handle on the first side surface to assist in removal of the sheet container form the image forming apparatus, and an upper edge of the opening forms a lift-up handle to assist in lifting the image forming apparatus with the sheet container installed therein.
