Abstract: A vaporizer device includes a housing including an air inlet, a heating element within the housing and a heat exchanger. The heating element includes a nonlinear positive temperature coefficient of resistance material. The heat exchanger is thermally coupled to the heating element and arranged to receive airflow from the air inlet. The heat exchanger is configured to transfer heat between the heating element and the airflow to produce a heated airflow. The heated airflow exiting the heat exchanger is configured to vaporize a vaporizable material. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.

Abstract: Cartridges for vaporizer devices are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a cartridge can include a reservoir housing that includes a reservoir chamber configured to contain a vaporizable material and first and second orifices each in fluid communication with the reservoir chamber. The first orifice is configured to allow at least a portion of the vaporizable material to be withdrawn from the reservoir chamber in response to generation of a first pressure differential across the first orifice that exceeds a first predetermined threshold pressure differential. The second orifice is configured to allow a portion of ambient air that is outside the reservoir housing to enter the reservoir chamber in response to generation of a second pressure differential across the second orifice that exceeds a second predetermined threshold pressure differential during the withdrawal of the vaporizable material from the reservoir chamber. Vaporizer devices and methods are also provided.

Abstract: An electronic cigarette with an atomizer cartridge and a battery assembly. The atomizer cartridge has an atomizer coupled to a first and second terminal of a cartridge interface. A passive electrical circuit is coupled between the first terminal and a sensing terminal. The battery assembly has an interface with a first, second, and sensing contact. The interface engages the cartridge interface to provide electrical continuity between the terminals and contacts. The battery assembly has an atomizer drive circuit connected between the first and second contact, and a controller that activates the atomizer drive circuit in response to negative pressure at a draw sensor. A sensing circuit coupled to the sensing contact outputs a parameter signal indicative of the electrical parameters of the passive electrical circuit. The controller activates an RGB LED to produce discrete colors of light corresponding to discrete values of the parameter signal.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a heating and temperature sensing assembly of a vaporizer device are described herein. In some embodiments, the heating and temperature sensing assembly may include a support plate made out of a thermally conductive material. The heating and temperature sensing assembly may include a heating element including a first electrically conductive pathway extending along the support plate. The heating element may be configured to heat the support plate for heating the vaporizable material. The heating and temperature sensing assembly may include a temperature sensing element having a second electrically conductive pathway extending along the support plate. The temperature sensing element may be configured to sense a temperature of the support plate. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

Abstract: Vaporization devices, components, and methods of operating the same are described. In some implementations, an apparatus includes a cartridge comprising an aerosol outlet, a fluid storage compartment, a resistive heating element, and first and second cartridge electrical contacts, and a device body comprising a power supply, a receptacle, first and second device electrical contacts, and a controller. When the receptacle at least partially receives the cartridge in two different orientations, the first and second device electrical contacts are configured to couple the first and second cartridge electrical contacts, and the controller is configured to provide power from the power supply to the resistive heating element.
