    摘要: A corona-charging apparatus for charging successive image area segments of a charge-receiving element, which corona-charging apparatus is capable of adjusting the charging rate from one segment to the next while minimizing the transition region between successive image area segments, includes electrode means for creating a corona discharge and a composite grid between the electrode means and a moving charge-receiving element. The composite grid includes a plurality of conductive controlled grid sets with at least one grid wire per set. The grid sets are spaced in the direction of movement of the charge-receiving element, and the voltage on each grid set is adjustable independently of the voltages on the other grid sets. Regulator means are provided for synchronizing the voltage of each grid set with the movement of the charge-receiving element.

The machine includes apparatus for selectively controlling whether or not the test patch images are transferred from the image transfer member to the copy sheets by selectively aligning or not aligning the copy sheets and the test patches on the image transfer member and effecting the transfer of images from the image transfer member to a copy sheet aligned with the images to be transferred, whereby the copy sheets receive or do not receive images of the test patches in accordance with the relative positions of the copy sheets and the test patches on the image transfer member.

Current is sinked from the grid through a variable resistance, and means are provided for sensing the voltage produced on the insulating surface to be charged.The electrode power supply is AC, and the grid current sink includes a rectifier circuit. Means, responsive to the sensed voltage adjust the conductivity of the variable resistance in accordance with a predetermined program to thereby maintain the charge on the surface substantially constant.

In the first mode, the platen cover is closed and a short duration relative high-peak intensity flash pulse illuminates a document at the exposure platen. In the second mode, the cover is raised or opened to accommodate a three-dimensional object, such as a magazine or book, and a flash pulse having a longer time interval but lower peak intensity is provided.

    摘要: Apparatus for producing finished booklets from a plurality of sheets includes an assembly station where a set of sheets are assembled together to form a booklet and a collection station for receiving booklets produced in the assembly station. A door on the apparatus is ordinarily closed to limit access by an operator to the assembly station and the collection station during operation of the apparatus. The door is opened for removal of assembled booklets from the collection station. A passage is provided for delivering a booklet from inside the apparatus to a position where the booklet is accessible from the outside of the apparatus. A booklet can be engaged after it is assembled in the assembly station and delivered through the passage to the outside of the apparatus where it can be examined by the operator during production of additional booklets. By obtaining a booklet in this manner, and without opening the door, the operator is not exposed to the mechanical and electrical mechanisms of the apparatus.

    摘要: A hot roll, for use in a xerographic hot roll fuser, is made by coating a hollow aluminum cylinder with an elastomer, as by the use of an injection molding machine. After molding, the external surface of the elastomer cylinder is ground slightly to improve its concentricity. Thereafter, this ground external surface is subjected to the chemical influence of an acid. After a predetermined time period, the acid treatment is terminated and the roll is washed in water. The resulting hot roll, whose external surface has been chemically modified, possesses improved dry-release properties.

    摘要: In multi-color reversal development, good color balance is obtained by changing the time duration of exposure for each different color frame. A dot printer apparatus produces a series of different color-resolved electrostatic latent images on a recording member. The apparatus includes an array of discrete elements for dot recording on the recording medium. The elements are selectively enable for predetermined periods of time during a cycle of operation to form a color-resolved electrostatic latent image on the recording member. Each charge latent image is developed with selected toner particles according to its resolved color. A control signal representative at least in part of the resolved color of each latent image is produced, and the control signal determines the enablement time of the elements during each cycle of operation according to each resolved color.
