Abstract:
A method of producing a custom color particulate toner for use in a two-component developer by mixing two or more component color toners. The component color toners are each surface treated with a blend of two or more types of silica particles, which differ in the functional groups appended to them. The silica blend for each component color toner is chosen so that, when the component color toners are mixed together to form the custom color mixture, they will all tribocharge to the same charge-to-mass ratio when mixed with a carrier to form a developer.
Abstract:
A hub clamp assembly includes a hub that has a flange portion and an annular sleeve portion. The sleeve portion has a plurality of substantially longitudinal slits therein extending from a distal end toward the flange portion to form a plurality of sleeve segments. The sleeve portion further has an outer surface that includes a first set of surface features. The assembly also includes an annular collar that has one or more sleeve engagement pieces each having a first surface and an opposing second surface. The first surface of the sleeve engagement piece contains a second set of surface features configured to correspond to and engage the first set of surface features of the sleeve portion of the hub. A support ring surrounds the sleeve portion of the hub and overlies the second surface of the sleeve engagement pieces.
Abstract:
A shaft connection assembly for the transfer of torque between two shafts is disclosed. The assembly includes a hub and an elongated annular collar. The hub includes a flange portion and a sleeve portion, the sleeve portion having a plurality of sleeve segments formed by longitudinal cuts along the length of the sleeve portion such that when the collar is forced linearly, axially away from the flange portion, the sleeve segments exert a clamping force on each of two shafts disposed within a passageway formed by the hub. The clamping force prevents relative movement of the first shaft with respect to the second when the shafts are rotated about a common axis. A method for joining two shafts for the transfer of torque using the shaft connection assembly is also disclosed.

Abstract:
A bearing seal assembly includes a pair segmented circumferential or a carbon ring seals to contain oil in the bearing compartments of a gas turbine engine or other mechanical device. The pair of seals, an oil-side seal and an air-side seal, are axially-spaced between the oil and the air in the housing. Air at an elevated pressure is introduced between the seals. This elevated air pressure urges the seals axially apart from one another and radially inward to improve the seal. A backup seal is provided adjacent either the oil-side seal or the air-side seal. In the event of failure of either the oil-side seal or the air-side seal which results in the loss of air pressure, the backup seal will provide at least a minimum level of seal between the oil compartment and the air in the housing.
Abstract:
The invention provides a system for virtually designing a medical device conformed for use with a specific patient. Using the system, a three-dimensional geometric model of a patient-specific body cavity or lumen is reconstructed from scanned volume images such as obtained x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computer tomography (CT), ultrasound (US), angiography or other imaging modalities. Knowledge of the physical properties of the cavity/lumen is obtained by determining the relationship between image density and the stiffness or elasticity of tissues in the body cavity or lumen and is used to model interactions between a simulated device and a simulated body cavity or lumen.
Abstract:
Development systems and methods for developing using chemically prepared toners are disclosed. The present invention further discloses developers used in development systems. The use of chemically prepared toners with hard magnetic carrier particles with a non-magnetic, cylindrical shell for transporting developers provides excellent benefits with respect to image quality by reducing granularity and by providing a typically constant, stable developer life as shown by the consistent level of charge to mass over time during operation.
Abstract:
A method of developing electrostatic images with a two component developer avoids the break-in period of developer by providing a fresh mixture of carrier and toner, which toner has a first particle size but replenishes the mixture in use with toner having a second particle size larger than the first particle size. This compensates for the tendency of electrostatic images to preferentially attract the larger particles in a toner mixture.
Abstract:
An evaporator fabricated from a plurality of plates arranged in spaced parallel relation with one another within a housing or casing having inlet and outlet openings. The plates are arranged to define fluid passages for both water and refrigerant with the refrigerant passages having separators positioned therein. The housing is provided with partitions that cooperate with certain of said plates to define water passages which extend in a serpentine manner from the inlet to the outlet, with the inlet communicating with the greater number of water passages that gradually diminish in number from the inlet to the outlet.
Abstract:
An angularly adjustable clamp assembly includes a hub clamp, an adjustment base connectable to the hub clamp and a plurality of attachment members. The hub clamp includes a hub and collar, the hub having a sleeve portion forming a passageway to receive a shaft. The sleeve portion has multiple slits along the sleeve portion to form a plurality of sleeve segments. The collar has an inner surface configured to engage an outer surface of the sleeve portion. The attachment members cause the collar to move axially along the length of the sleeve portion to urge the sleeve segments radially inward to secure the shaft within the passageway. The assembly is configured such that at least one attachment member further connects the adjustment base to the hub clamp. The attachment members can be actuated to cause an angular adjustment of two shafts connected by the assembly.
