The method comprises the steps of negotiating a direct tunneling connection between the mobile device and the packet gateway node by the serving node, wherein the direct tunneling connection is only dedicated to packet switched traffic of the mobile device using the non-cellular mobile access, and establishing the direct tunneling connection between the mobile device and the packet gateway node by the mobile device.

    摘要: A system for expediting IP address assignment. An apparatus that desires to initiate a connection with another apparatus may be deemed an initiator (e.g., or a “handover requester” in Near Field Communications, or NFC, terminology). In the instance that an apparatus is deemed to be an initiator, a further determination may be made as to whether the initiator is already a member of a network. If the initiator is determined not to already be a member of a network, the initiator may provide IP address configuration information usable by the other apparatus for assigning an IP address to the initiator. The IP address that is set in the initiator may then be based on an IP address provided to the initiator by the other apparatus in response to the previously sent IP address configuration information.

The GGSN receives data packets from the external communication system in a first plurality of data flows which it maps to a second plurality of data flows in the mobile communications system. It also maps at least one of the data flows on the basis of the filter and configures the filter on the basis of information which preferably originates from the mobile station.

    摘要: An implementation of packet data control protocol (PDCP) parameter negotiation in a universal mobile telephone communications service (UMTS) which can also be used to improve GSM/GPRS XID negotiation methods, where the timing for exactly when the new parameters are to take effect must be known includes either a GPRS-type reset solution or a PDCP-header based change indicator solution. The mobile system comprises a terminal for which characteristics parameters are specified comprising at least the compression methods supported by the terminal, and a radio network, in which a functional entity is configured for specifying a compression method to a radio bearer. The use of a compression method on the radio bearers of the terminal is specified on the basis of the characteristics parameters transmitted by the terminal. The user of the terminal updates the parameters specifying the compression methods of the terminal, the characteristics parameters of the terminal being modified in the terminal in accordance with this update, and the modified characteristics parameters are transmitted to a function comprised by the radio network. The modified characteristics parameters are used to configure the use of a compression method for each simultaneous radio bearer of the terminal.
