Abstract:
The present invention relates to leak preventing gaskets contemplated for use with segmented pipe couplings, which include a pair of coupling segments adapted to receive a gasket which surrounds a pair of pipe ends to join pipes together or to join a nipple or fitting. The couplings contemplated for use with the gasket of the invention includes types adapted to attach grooved and flare end pipes, or non-grooved pipes in sealed relation to withstand fluids at temperatures up to 230° F. and higher, and at pressures of up to 1,000 psi. The ring-type gasket of the present invention is made of an elastomeric material such as synthetic or natural rubber or combinations thereof, preferably, ethylene polypropylene diene monomer, commonly referred to as “EPDM”. The gasket provides improved sealing through a pair of sealing flanges having relative planar and expansive inner walls, shorter sealing lips, and particular dimensional relationships with the grooved pipe ends. The invention also relates to a coupling incorporating such gaskets, as well as a method of providing a sealed coupling.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to leak preventing gaskets contemplated for use with segmented pipe couplings, which generally include a pair of coupling segments adapted to receive a gasket which surrounds a pair of pipes to join the pipes together or to join a nipple or fitting to the pipe by tightening a pair of bolts and related fasteners with a corresponding pair of bolt pads on the segments. The couplings contemplated for use with the gasket of the present invention includes types which are adapted to attach grooved and flared end pipes, or non-grooved pipes in sealed relation to withstand fluid at temperatures up to and including 230° F. and higher, and at pressures of up to 1,000 psi. Although such pipes generally conduct water up to about 230° F., they may also be used for toxic and volatile chemicals. The gasket of the present invention is of the ring-type which is made of an elastomeric material such as synthetic or natural rubber or combinations thereof, and preferably, ethylene polypropylene diene monomer, commonly referred to as “EPDM”. The gasket provides improved sealing through a pair of sealing flanges having relatively planar and expansive inner walls, shorter sealing lips, and particular dimensional relationships with the grooved pipe ends. The invention also relates to a coupling incorporating such gaskets, as well as a method of providing a sealed coupling.
Abstract:
A system, method and tangible medium for unified exception handling with distributed exception identification includes a packet processing pipeline with at least two processing stages for processing data packets, each of the data packets being processed having an associated exception map in a memory of the apparatus. An exception detector at each processing stage detects whether any exception conditions apply to the data packet at the processing stage, and if so, a bit setter sets, modifies, or resets one or more bits in the exception map associated with exception conditions detected at the processing stage. An exception handler processes the exception map in response to the state of in the exception map after all the processing stages are complete.
Abstract:
Unified exception handling may be provided by processing a data packet through at least two pipelined processing stages in a data packet processor such as a switch, router, bridge, or similar network device, each of the data packets having associated with it (while it is being processed) an exception map disposed in a memory of the network device. The bits in the exception map are set, modified, or reset in response to exception conditions detected at the various processing stages. After the packet has been fully processed, an exception handler takes as an input the exception map and further processes the packet in response to the state of the exception map.
