    摘要: Pipe elements have circumferential grooves. The grooves have a first side surface contiguous with a first floor surface. The first side surface and the first floor surface together subtend a first 90° circular arc when viewed in cross section. The grooves also have a second side surface contiguous with a second floor surface. The second side surface is in spaced relation to and in facing relation with the first side surface. The second side surface and the second floor surface together subtend a second 90° circular arc when viewed in cross section. A third floor surface is contiguous with both the first and second floor surfaces and is a flat surface. A coupling used to connect the pipe elements has arcuate projections which engage the grooves of the pipe elements. The arcuate projections have a semi-circular cross section. Relief grooves are positioned adjacent to each arcuate projection.

    摘要: Fittings, including elbow fittings and Tee fittings have bodies that surround a central space and define openings to receive pipe elements. Ribs surround the openings, and gaps are positioned between the ribs to permit deformation of the body when ends of the body in facing relation are brought together. The body may be formed of two housings or unitary in construction. The ribs may be grooved to accommodate toothed retainer rings providing mechanical engagement with pipe elements. The ribs have surfaces with radii of curvature that, when the ribs are undeformed, are substantially equal to the radii of curvature of the pipe elements they engage.

The fastener (22) has an aligned configuration defining an axis of alignment such that first and second housing components are in a closed configuration to define a central axis of the coupling. The fastener has a skewed configuration to define a pivot axis of the fastener such that the first and second housing components are in an open configuration. The pivot axis is substantially parallel to the central axis and substantially perpendicular to the axis of alignment.

    摘要: Provided is a method of forming a locking ridge for a case of forming the locking ridge on an outer peripheral surface of a joint portion by form rolling, the method realizing a joint portion structure which is superior in pipe detachment prevention performance when pipes with locking ridges are connected by fixing pipe ends with a housing. Using a convex roller arranged inside the workpiece pipe body and a forming circular groove arranged outside the pipe body, the locking ridge is form-rolled such that an upright wall portion thereof is raised at an angle of at least 65° and no greater than 90° with respect to the outer peripheral surface in the pipe axis direction, and that a height of the locking ridge from the outer peripheral surface to the apex of the tip portion is at least a total of curvature radii of faces of the processing means in contact with the pipe body.

    摘要: A mechanical coupling for joining pipe elements has segments joined end to end, each segment having a pocket of varying depth for receiving a ring gasket. The varying depth of the pocket is used to control the distortion of the ring gasket between a round shape and a non-round shape when the segments are arranged in spaced apart relation around the ring gasket, the spacing between the segments being sufficient to permit insertion of the pipe elements without disassembly of the coupling.
