A method for transmitting test data includes: an optical network unit (ONU) determining whether its current situation satisfies a preset condition, and if so, the ONU transmitting its test data to an optical line terminal (OLT). A method for acquiring a test data, an ONU, an OLT, and a passive optical network (PON) system are also provided. According to the method for transmitting test data, the method for acquiring test data, the ONU, the OLT, and the PON system provided by the present invention, the ONU may transmit its test data in real time, and the OLT may also obtain the ONU test data in real time, which helps to the real-time monitoring on the network status of the PON.

Embodiments of the present disclosure describe a method and an apparatus for testing an optical network, which may be applicable to an integrated OTDR and the field of optical network technologies. The method includes obtaining a maximum test time of a single group test; dividing a total test time into at least two groups of single group test time that is not greater than the maximum test time when the total test time is greater than the maximum test time of the single group test; performing the single group tests in sequence according to each single group test time; and instructing optical network equipment to restore to a normal working state when the single group test time corresponding to each single group test ends.

The present invention discloses a method for identifying an optical network unit (ONU) in an optical access system, including: receiving uplink signals sent by a plutality of ONUs through a shared optical transmission path; extracting detection signals from the uplink signals, and obtaining signal characteristics of the detection signals; and comparing the signal characteristics with a reference characteristic value, and determining, according to a result of the comparison, whether the multiple ONUs that send the uplink signals include a point-to-point connection-based (P2P) ONU. Through the method for identifying an ONU in an optical access system, when P2P ONU is mistakenly connected into a point-to-multipoint (P2MP) connection-based optical access system, a fault alarm can be raised quickly, which facilitates system maintenance and troubleshooting. The present invention further discloses an optical access system, an optical line terminal, and an optical module.
