摘要: A structure and assembly technique for providing an internal reinforcement for an air bag module to restrain bulging of the module while minimizing the size of the module. The air bag module comprises a container with a wall defining a cavity for a gas generator and at least a part of an air bag. The wall also defines an opening through which at least part of the bag is inserted into the cavity. A reaction member, preferably a fabric tether strap, is connected with at least two points of the wall adjacent the container opening and extends across the opening in the container. The tether strap is located internally of the container and resists deformation of the container under the pressures of air bag deployment, without increasing the size of the module. The tether strap is preferably constructed as a part of the air bag itself, and is incorporated into the container at the time the air bag is assembled with the container. Moreover, the assembly process is designed to enable the bag to be folded into the container and around the tether strap, in a manner which is designed to promote effective deployment of the bag despite the incorporation of the tether strap internally relative to the container.

摘要: A vehicle seat belt retractor (10) includes a rotatable spool (170) on which seat belt webbing (16) is wound. An actuator (230) is selectively rotatable with the spool (170) to actuate a primary belt locking mechanism (270) to block withdrawal of belt webbing (16) from the retractor (10) in a vehicle emergency situation. A cinch mechanism (400) is actuatable in response to withdrawal of a predetermined amount of belt webbing (16) from the spool (170). The cinch mechanism (400) is supported on the actuator (230) for rotation with the actuator.

摘要: A vehicle seat belt retractor (10) includes a spool (170) on which seat belt webbing (16) is wound. The spool (170) is supported for rotation on hubs (102, 162). In the event a primary belt locking mechanism (270) fails to block withdrawal of belt webbing (16) from the retractor (10) in a vehicle emergency situation, the spool (170) moves into engagement with a series of fixed teeth (60, 70) on the retractor frame (40) to block rotation of the spool in the belt withdrawal direction (192). Barbs (130, 168) on the hubs (102, 162) cooperate with blocking members (120, 166) to maintain the spool (170) in its blocked condition after termination of the emergency situation.

摘要: A vehicle seat belt retractor (10) includes a spool (170) on which seat belt webbing (16) is wound. The spool (170) is supported for rotation on hubs (102, 162). In a vehicle emergency, an actuator (230) rotates with the spool (170) and transmits force through first and second link arms (312, 314) to a belt webbing clamp mechanism (270) to block the withdrawal of belt webbing (16) from the retractor (10). In the event the primary belt locking mechanism (270) is unable to block the withdrawal of belt webbing (16) from the retractor (10), the spool (170) continues to rotate. The first link arm (312) moves relative to the second link arm (314) to enable the actuator (230) to continue to rotate, actuating a secondary belt locking mechanism (200, 178), without damaging parts of the retractor (10).
