摘要: A gas generator for inflating an inflatable article such as a safety bag or raft, has a reaction chamber (1) surrounded by a ring-shaped filter chamber (2). First gas exit openings (10 to 15) permit generated gas to flow from the reaction chamber into the filter chamber. Second gas exit openings (22) lead from the filter chamber into the inflatable article. A temperature responsive flow control is provided to make sure that the inflation efficiency or the inflation pressure inside the inflated article is substantially constant and substantially independent of the temperature of the gas generator at which the ignition of a gas generating fuel begins. For this purpose the total cross-sectional flow area of the first gas exit openings and/or the average gas flow path length between the first and second gas exit openings is controlled so that with a rising temperature the flow cross-sectional area and/or average path length is increased while the area and/or path length is decreased in response to a decreasing temperature.

摘要: The invention relates to a gas generator for a safety arrangement, in particular for a vehicle occupant restraint system, comprising a combustion chamber (4) delimited by a combustion chamber wall (4a) and filled with propellant granule (3), and also a means arranged in the combustion chamber for holding down the propellant granule. The gas generator according to the invention is characterized in that the means for holding down the propellant granule comprises a disc-shaped holding face (1) having grid holes, wherein the holding face is pressed into the combustion chamber and is connected in a form and force-fitting manner with the combustion chamber wall, and is prestressed and presses elastically onto the propellant granule, the grid holes having a smaller diameter than the propellant granule (3).

摘要: A filter arrangement for an airbag gas generator of the type utilizing gas-producing propellant charge to generate gas to inflate an airbag, and having a filter chamber exhibiting contoured interior surfaces. A gas permeable filter material with a large effective filter surface is disposed in the filter chamber in such a manner as to substantially completely fill up the filter chamber and to contact substantially all of its contoured interior surfaces. The filter material comprises a circular knitted wire knit, rolled up and pressed into a shape corresponding to the shape of the filter chamber.

摘要: A gas generator for a vehicle occupant restraint system has a combustion chamber delimited by a combustion chamber wall and filled with propellant granules. A structure is arranged in the combustion chamber for holding down the propellant granule, which has a disc-shaped holding face with grid holes, wherein the holding face is pressed into the combustion chamber and is connected in a form- and force-fitting manner with the combustion chamber wall. The structure for holding down the propellant granules is prestressed and presses elastically onto the propellant granules thereby arresting the propellant granules at a preselected filling level and at a variable distance from the combustion chamber cover.

摘要: An airbag gas generator is disclosed which includes a propellant chamber and a filter chamber arranged adjacent the propellant chamber for filtering flow of airbag propellant gas therethrough on its path to an airbag cushion. The filter chamber is provided with a plurality of alternative gas flow paths therethrough which have respective different filter resistances. Temperature dependent change-over devices are provided for controlling the flow of gas through the respective alternative gas flow paths in the filter chamber as a function of the ambient temperature at the generator.
