摘要: An image processing apparatus for generating an interpolated picture interpolated between two temporally successive original pictures includes: a motion vector estimation unit configured to estimate for each block a motion vector between the two original pictures; a compensation strength determination unit configured to determine motion compensation strength for specifying an interpolation phase in accordance with a degree of reliability of the estimated motion vector; and an interpolated picture generation unit configured to generate the interpolated picture by performing motion compensation processing on at least one of the two original pictures, using the interpolation phase specified according to the determined motion compensation strength and the estimated motion vector, wherein the compensation strength determination unit is configured to determine the motion compensation strength in a manner such that the interpolation phase approaches closer to one of phases of the two original pictures with a decrease in the reliability.

摘要: A motion compensator includes a video data selector, a video data editor, a vector reference data editor, a delay unit, a region data editor, and a delay unit. The video data editor outputs present frame video data and average video data. The vector reference data editor outputs previous compensation video data and present compensation video data. The region data editor outputs present frame region data, previous compensation region data, and present compensation region data. The video data selector selects one of four video data pieces based on the three pieces of region data and outputs the selected data to the video output unit.

摘要: In the calculation of a motion vector, a motion vector of different block with a small correlation value is considered in addition to an estimated motion vector of a target block. This different block is a block at a position where a movement similar to the target block is predicted. As a result, a motion vector with a small correlation value for the different block is adopted even if a correlation value for an estimated motion vector of the target block is large. This enables the detection of a highly reliable motion vector.

摘要: To realize image conversion processing by means of filtering using a multi-tap structure without requiring that a memory to use has a high-speed capability, a merge circuit 102 merges sampled input image signals for every plurality pieces of continuous pixel data and outputs signals, and a memory element 103 stores approximately one frame of output data from the merge circuit 102. The memory element 103 outputs signals to a memory element 104 in accordance with outputs from a memory element 107 which stores control data which are calculated in advance. The memory element 104 stores a larger number of input signals received from the memory element 103 than the number of taps of a filtering circuit 106, and outputs signals to a selection circuit 105. The selection circuit 105 selects signals required by the filtering circuit 106 from input signals received from the memory element 104 and outputs signals to the filtering circuit 106. The filtering circuit 106 generates output image signals, using input signals received from the selection circuit 105.
