摘要： A synthetic polymer has a water-soluble or water-swellable polyurethane backbone and terminal groups and/or intermediate groups of blocks of hydrophobes of alkyl- or aryl compounds containing a polymerizable cyclic monomer or a polymerizable double bond (or alkene) group or derivatives thereof. The blocks of hydrophobes are composed of two or more units of the same or different hydrophobes. These synthetic polymers are used as rheology modifiers, especially in latex paints.

摘要： A composition is provided herein for preventing or retarding the formation of gas hydrates or for reducing the tendency of gas hydrates to agglomerate, during the transport of a fluid comprising water and a hydrocarbon, through a conduit. The composition is a homopolymer of an N-alkyl(meth)acrylamide, N,N-dialkyl(meth)acrylamide or copolymers thereof with N-vinyl-N-methylacetamide, in a defined solvent, which homopolymers and copolymers are made and applied in the defined solvent, which, most preferably, is a low molecular weight glycol ether such as 2-butoxyethanol.

摘要： A composition for preventing or retarding the formation of gas hydrates during the transport of a fluid comprising water and a hydrocarbon through a conduit. The composition is a copolymer of vinyl caprolactam and vinyl pyridine, and terpolymers thereof, with vinyl pyrrolidone, preferably including 70-97% by weight vinyl caprolactam. Suitably such polymers have a molecular weight in the range of 500 to 2500, and are made in a polymerization solvent, preferably a glycol ether, most preferably, 2-butoxyethanol; and also including a carrier solvent, preferably monoethylene glycol.

摘要： Hydroxyethylcellulose with a low molar substitution and which is uniformly substituted is useful in cement-based systems, including mortars. The cement-based system exhibits long pot life, as well as very high water retention capability at hot temperature, as well as better paste stability and optimized setting behavior for hot as well as cold temperature compared to typical, cement-based systems with commercial cellulose ether compounds. Less hydrophilic cellulose ethers such as methylhydroxyethylcellulose can be added as a second cellulose ether.
