摘要: Virtual channels are used to improve quality of service through a large port count switch. Data frames are sent from one small switch to another small switch within the large port count switch on virtual channels. The use of virtual channels helps prevent congestion caused by a first external source device sending data to a first external destination device from affecting a second external source device sending data to a second external destination device.

摘要: Method and apparatus for formation of an autocorrelation difference function of an incoming digital signal that reduces the effects of presence of a multipath signal or of noise in an incoming digital composite signal. An incoming digital composite signal, including direct and multipath signals, is received that has a bit value transition interval of length .DELTA..tau..sub.chip. Two or three consecutive bit values b.sub.n-2, b.sub.n-1 and b.sub.n of the direct (ideal) signal are examined. If a test condition for these bit values is satisfied, a first non-uniform weighting function w1(t) is used to compute the contribution of a time interval I.sub.n ={t'.vertline.t.sub.n-1 +.DELTA. t.sub.E) If the test condition is not satisfied, a second weighting function w1 (t) is used to compute the contribution of the time interval I.sub.n to AC#(.tau.;E) and AC#(.tau.;L). An autocorrelation difference function .DELTA.AC#(.tau.)=AC#(.tau.;E) and AC#(.tau.;L) is formed in which the effects of noise or of multipath signals is suppressed, relative these effects in a conventionally computed autocorrelation difference function .DELTA.AC(.tau.)=AC(.tau.;E)-AC(.tau.;L).

摘要: Improved apparatus for generation of the P-code sequences used in global positioning by issuance and sensing of code sequences issued by a plurality of satellites. The improved apparatus generates the same P-code sequences with fewer components, or with different components, by removal or replacement of: (1) a time delay/multiplexer module that allows choice of the satellite whose P-code is being formed and issued; (2) four 12-bit counters that determine the end of an epoch and are associated with four X code registers; (3) components that produce precession of an X1 code sequence relative to an X2 code sequence; and (4) an end-of-the-period counter, used to sense occurrence of the end of a chosen period, for example, 7.0 days, for purpose of P-code re-initialization.

摘要: A switch comprising front-end and back-end application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) is disclosed. Frame storage and retrieval in the switch is achieved by dividing a frame into equal sized portions that are sequentially stored in switch memory during an assigned time slot. Control logic coupled to the front-end and back-end ASICs assigns the time slot either dynamically or statically.

摘要: A switch having a higher speed port, one or more slower speed ports, a larger buffer memory and numerous larger counters to achieve higher speed and longer range of communication. In one embodiment a larger switch having a larger buffer memory and larger counters connects to a smaller switch having a smaller buffer memory and smaller counters, the larger switch practically expanding the buffer memory and counters in the smaller switch. A combination of several counters can also avoid buffer overrun in any switches in the frame flow path due to the mismatch between the counter capabilities, the limitations of physical buffer spaces or the mismatch between transmission speeds. In another embodiment, the buffer spaces in several switches can be aggregated or cascaded along a frame path so that there are enough credits to maintain a high-speed transmission over a long distance.
