The scan functionality comprises a scan sequence with an angular velocity of the alidade around the standing axis, wherein during the scan sequence the alidade is in a continuous revolving motion with mainly constant angular velocity about the standing axis, and the angular velocity of the alidade is faster than half of the angular velocity of the tilting motion of the telescope unit about the elevation axis.
