摘要： A briquette for growing plants comprises a hard compressed growth medium expansible by the addition of water and having an expansible shape-retaining means which retains the shape of the briquette for handling purposes. The growth medium may comprise peat moss, or soil to which a mixture of dry sodium bicarbonate and citric acid has been added. The shape-retaining means may comprise a nylon sleeve extending around the growth medium and compressed therewith. Alternatively peat moss may be mixed with a binder so that the peat moss particles are glued together. In a further embodiment the peat moss is mixed with a synthetic resin which can be foamed by blowing agents or the resin and peat moss can be beaten to a foam wherein the pores are filled with peat moss.
