摘要： An automated store for storing and then distributing articles. The store includes a housing for receiving closed shipping containers for storage, and for distributing articles to an output of the housing, which articles were retrieved from inside the shipping containers. The store further includes within the housing an entry means for controlling entry into the housing of a plurality of closed shipping containers, with at least some of the plurality of closed shipping containers having outer dimensions which are different from the outer dimensions of other ones of the plurality of shipping containers, and further including a sensing means for determining the position of at least a portion of an outside surface of each one of the plurality of closed shipping containers that have entered into the housing. Also within the housing is an automated forming means for using the determined position specific to each of the closed shipping containers to form an opening in each of the plurality of the shipping containers, a storing means for storing the plurality of opened shipping containers inside a storage area of the housing, a computer controlled retrieving means for entering into selected ones of the opened shipping containers located in the storage area, by passing through the formed opening so as to retrieve an article from inside one of the stored opened shipping containers and further including moving means for moving the retrieved articles to an output of the housing.

The machine includes an interior space having at least one compartment adapted to store articles therein, the compartment extending along a non-vertical axis between first and second ends thereof. A head is provided as part of a retrieval end of a flexible hose so as to engage the articles when the head is positioned in alignment with a compartment by a positioning mechanism. The head is extended into the compartment parallel to the non-vertical axis so as to engage to an article stored therein and retrieve it therefrom.

摘要： A merchandiser includes a front door or wall portion which forms a barrier between an exterior side and an interior side of the merchandiser. The front door or wall portion holds a first display panel in a relatively fixed manner so that an exterior side of the first display panel forms at least a portion of the exterior side of the merchandiser. The first display panel including portions that are clear, so as to allow a user of the merchandiser to see through the clear portion of the first display panel. A replaceable graphics display panel, which itself has replaceable graphics cards thereon, is placeable in juxtaposition with an interior facing side of the first display panel, so that the replaceable graphics cards thereon are aligned with the clear portions, so that the replaceable graphics cards are viewable from the exterior side of the merchandiser. In a preferred embodiment, the first display panel is affixed to the front door or wall portion in a manner so as to have an exterior facing convex shape, and said replaceable graphics display panel is placed in juxtaposition with the interior side of the first display panel and pressed against the interior facing side of the first display panel by mechanical urging means which causes a press-fit of the replaceable display panel against the first display panel.

The internal volume having a dimension along a first axis which has at one end of the dimension an article storage sub-volume, and at an opposing end of the dimension adjacent a dispensing end of the article storage sub-volume, an article dispensing sub-volume. The dispensing mechanism includes a substantially non-compressible tube connecting the head to a source of article securing energy. A feeder displaces the tube so as to move the head along the first axis (Z) and a first positioning device moving the feeder along a second axis different from the first axis. All the while, the article storage sub-volume utilizes 75 percent or more of said internal dimension along the first axis of the cabinet.
