Abstract: An apparatus for squeezing pipes, comprising a first jaw having a first squeezing surface and a second jaw having a second squeezing surface. The first jaw and the second jaw are interconnected for relative displacement at proximal ends through a first shaft of the apparatus and at distal ends through a second shaft of the apparatus. The first squeezing surface and the second squeezing surface are separated by a gap adapted to receive a pipe therein. The first jaw is rotatable with respect to the first shaft and engageable with the second shaft such that the apparatus is mountable about a pipe with the pipe being positioned in the gap between the first and the second shaft. Actuation means are provided for axially displacing the first shaft to reduce the gap to squeeze the pipe between the first squeezing surface of the first jaw and the second squeezing surface of the second jaw to block at least partially fluid flow in the pipe, wherein at least one of the first and second jaws bends at a given level of squeezing of the pipe whereby greater pressure is applied on cross-sectional ends of the pipe being squeezed.

Abstract: There is provided a new and improved apparatus and method for rolling workpieces such as crankshafts. The apparatus has first and second rolling heads mounted at spaced positions along a common rolling arm to receive a crankshaft bearing therebetween which can then be shifted relative to one another along the common rolling arm to close the heads or rolling tools for clamping onto the workpiece. The in-line clamping action and force provided by the tools on the rolling arm are created by actuation of a tall, thin cylinder assembly including a number of aligned individual cylinders sized to keep the width of the cylinder assembly to a minimum so that all of the rolling arms can likewise be of a thin construction pivotally mounted on one side of the crankshaft and axially spaced according to the crankshaft bearing spacing for rolling all of the bearings in a single rolling operation. A strain sensor can be utilized to generate clamping force readouts that are based on the amount of structural deflection of the arm detected by the sensor.

Abstract: A security lock assembly for a shut-off valve consisting of a valve body and an exterior engageable portion secured to a gate stem so as to rotate the stem. The body has a flange with a hole therein. The security lock assembly comprises a lock disk having a central opening for receiving the engageable portion. Abutment edges are formed integrally with the disk for engagement with the engageable portion so as to rotate therewith. Indentations are formed in a bottom surface of the lock disk at a predetermined position. A pin-lock assembly is retained in the hole of the flange of the valve body. The pin-lock assembly has a pin portion upwardly biased against the lock disk. The pin portion is aligned with the indentation so as to engage therein when the valve stem is rotated to a predetermined closed position, whereby the valve is locked in the predetermined closed position by the pin portion.

Abstract: A lockable, reversible lid for a container having a lip. The lid includes a cover having a perimeter, a first side and a second side. A locking tab pivotally extends from an end portion of the perimeter, such that the locking tab is disposable between the container body and the container lip when the lid is positioned upon the container with the first side disposed toward the container. The lid may be inverted by slipping the locking tab past the container lip, removing the lid, and setting the inverted lid on the container with the first side disposed away from the container.
