    摘要: The present invention concerns a full aperture beverage end (14) having a centre panel (30), a countersink (22) surrounding the centre panel (30), a main score (50) arranged in proximity to the countersink (22) to define a removeable aperture panel (54) and a vent score (46). The beverage end (14) is adapted for use with products that are pressurised to over 30 psi (207 kPa) when opened, and during opening the vent score (46) is adapted to sever first, controlling the pressure differential between the external surface and internal surface of the centre panel (30), thereby allowing the main score (50) to tear in a controlled and reliable manner.

    摘要: A closure for a container, which has a self-closing valve having a cup-shaped valve head (32) with a dispensing aperture defined therein. In response to increased pressure in the container, the head of the self-closing valve to flatten and partially invert, thereby opening the dispensing aperture (6). The closure (1) includes an energizing ring (5) arrange surrounding the valve head (32) and adapted to restrict the radial expansion thereof. The position and design of the energizing ring (5) relative to the valve head (32) may be adjusted to affect the performance of the valve allowing a single valve design to be used for a number of different applications. Alternatively the energizing ring (5) may be used to improve the performance of a particular design of valve.

    摘要: A can end having a countersink bead, an inclined chuck wall and a strong seam, resists distortion from its circular profile when subjected to thermal processing or when packaging carbonated beverages. This high hoop strength affects the manner in which the can end ultimately fails when placed under extreme abuse conditions, even if buckle pressure performance is within industry specified standards. The can end of the invention has control features introduced which control the failure mode whilst maintaining specified buckle pressure performance. In one embodiment, the control feature comprises expansion of the countersink bead to act as a trigger for local peaking, together with a groove in the chuck wall which prevents the peaking force from being concentrated at a single point which could result in leaking by the production of a pin hole.
