Among other benefits, the pressure resistance bead and saw tooth panel formation created by the tooling and method combine to resist wrinkling or other undesired deformation of the can end.

The lower annular segment is defined in a second horizontal plane equidistant to the first horizontal plane associated with the lower edge of the skirt.
