    摘要: In a method for the manufacture of a silver catalyst having silver deposited on a porous inorganic carrier in conjunction with at least one reaction accelerator selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and thallium to be used for the production of ethylene oxide, the improvement comprising the steps of depositing silver on the porous inorganic carrier in conjunction with at least one reaction accelerator selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and thallium thereby preparing an activated silver catalyst and subsequently subjecting said silver catalyst to a high-temperature treatment at a temperature in the range of 550.degree. to 950.degree. C. in an inert gaseous atmosphere having an oxygen concentration of not more than 3 volume percent in the final step.

    摘要: An improved process for preparing a silver-supported catalyst for use in the production of ethylene oxide by catalytic vapor phase oxidation of ethylene with molecular oxygen, which comprises impregnating a porous inorganic carrier with a solution of a silver compound containing a reducing compound, subjecting the impregnated product to a reducing treatment at 50.degree. to 200.degree. C. to disperse and deposit metallic silver on the external surface of the carrier and the internal surfaces of its pores, washing the silver-supported carrier with water, a lower alcohol or both, drying the washed product at a temperature of 50.degree. to 150.degree. C., impregnating the dried product with a solution containing a promoter, and evaporating the liquid ingredients.

    摘要: A silver catalyst for the production of ethylene oxide, comprising a granular .alpha.-alumina carrier having a sodium content of not more than 0.07% by weight and a specific surface area within the range of from 0.5 to 5 m.sup.2 /g, a finely divided metallic silver deposited on said carrier in an amount within the range of from 5 to 25% by weight based on the total catalyst, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of alkali metals of Atomic Numbers 19 to 55 and alkali metal compounds said at least one member being in an amount within the range of from 0.001 to 0.05 gram equivalent weight per kilogram of the complete catalyst.

    摘要: A process for the production of ethylene oxide by the vapor-phase catalytic oxidation of ethylene with molecular oxygen, which process comprises passing a mixed gas containing ethylene and molecular oxygen through a catalyst bed filled with a silver catalyst and subsequently passing the resultant reaction product gas through a cooling zone filled with a particulate material containing a substance capable of inhibiting the isomerization of ethylene oxide to acetaldehyde carrying at least one metal selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, calcium, strontium, barium and thallium or a compound of said metal to be carried on an inert refractory particulate material.
