    摘要: An aggregation device that connects a plurality of internal sub-networks processes a packet that is destined for one of the plurality of sub-networks. The aggregation device receives the packet and determines an internal sub-network identification value based on the combination of an external sub-network identification value that is in the packet, and a port of the aggregation device to which the one of the plurality of internal sub-networks is connected. The aggregation device may also determine an external sub-network identification value based on an internal sub-network identification value that is associated with a port of the aggregation device to which one of the plurality of internal sub-networks is connected. The external sub-network identification value is stored in the packet and the packet is transmitted on the port of the aggregation device to which the one of the plurality of internal sub-networks is connected.

    摘要: A method for providing a security mechanism to an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) emulated local-area network (LAN) is disclosed. The ATM emulated LAN is served by a LAN Emulation Server (LES), a Broadcast and Unknown Server (BUS), and a LAN Emulation Configuration Server (LECS). After receiving a LE_JOIN_REQUEST from an LE client within the emulated LAN, the LES forms a LE_CONFIGURE_REQUEST on behalf of the LE client, by utilizing the information from the LE_JOIN_REQUEST. The LES then sends the LE_CONFIGURE_REQUEST to the LECS. In turn, the LECS sends back a LE_CONFIGURE_RESPONSE to the LES. After receiving the LE_CONFIGURE_RESPONSE from the LECS, a determination is made as to whether or not a status field within the LE_CONFIGURE_RESPONSE indicates a success and a target ATM address field within the LE_CONFIGURE_RESPONSE contains an ATM address of the LES. If both of the above-mentioned conditions are met, the LES then sends a LE_JOIN_RESPONSE with a success status back to the requesting LE client such that the requesting LE client is allowed to join the emulated LAN.

The service endpoint is created in an operationally disabled state responsive to provisioning the service. A first network interface unit (NIU) is detected connecting to the facility. The first NIU has an identification code associated therewith. The service transitions to an operationally enabled state responsive to detecting the first NIU connecting to the facility. The identification code is associated with the facility. The first NIU is detected disconnecting from the facility. The service transitions to an operationally disabled state responsive to detecting the first NIU disconnecting from the facility. A second NIU is detected connecting to the facility. The second NIU has an identification code associated therewith. The identification code of the second NIU is compared with the identification code of the first NIU. The service transitions to an operationally enabled state if the identification code of the second NIU matches the identification code of the first NIU indicating that the first and second NIUs are the same NIU.
