    摘要: In a multi-core platform in which secondary processing cores do not have direct WAN connectivity, methods and apparatus are described that enable the secondary processing cores to provide DNS resolution services to their network applications and/or client devices attached thereto. In an exemplary embodiment, a primary processing core having direct WAN connectivity and a DHCP client includes a DNS proxy service module which acts as a DNS server to the platform's secondary processing cores. Each secondary processing core sends DNS queries to the primary core DNS proxy service module. A primary core DNS resolver regenerates DNS queries based on the DNS queries from the secondary cores and forwards them for resolution to WAN-side DNS servers whose IP addresses were provided to the DHCP client in response to an IP lease request. The resolved IP addresses are returned by the WAN-side DNS servers to the primary processing core, which provides them to the requesting secondary core applications or client devices, via the DNS proxy service module.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for configuring a device in a local area network using a gateway. The gateway is being communicatively coupled to a remote management server outside the local area network. The local area network comprises a protected portion and an unprotected portion. The method comprises the following actions: First a connection request is received from a user device. The user device is provided with an address that enables the user device to establish a connection with the gateway within the unprotected portion of the local area network. Then a configuration request is received from the user device, in which the configuration request includes device information. Network information is appended to the configuration request and the appended configuration request is sent to the remote management server. In response a configuration response message is received. The response message includes the configuration data from the remote management server. Finally, configuration of the user device is established within the protected portion of the local area network using the configuration data.

    摘要: A hosted network management solution for communications over a computer network supports data communication across a network in accordance with a network message protocol such that communications are established between a network host and a node device. The and the node device performs a self-configuring operation in which the network host identifies a network owner associated with the hosted network, and maintains a persistent network connection path between the network host and the node device for the exchange of network packet messages. The network host retrieves message data from the network packet messages it receives from the node device and performs network management operations to provide a user management interface to the identified network owner. The hosted network management enables more convenient setup and configuration for the network owner and provides more complete and effective network management tools.
