Abstract:
In a system for transmitting a digital signal over a signal path, such as a digital microwave radio, a method for finding worst case susceptibility of digital microwave radios to multipath fading. Signal notch depth at a given signal frequency is adjusted until a selected initial bit error rate occurs. Thereafter, the signal path is broken and then reestablished. If the measured bit error rate is greater than the initial bit error rate, the resulting bit error rate is measured, and the notch depth is decreased and then gradually increased, until the measured bit error rate is equal to or slightly exceeds the initial bit error rate. If the measured bit error rate is equal to the initial bit error rate, the signal path is broken and reestablished additional times until an accurate representation of worst case signal propagation is obtained. If the measured bit error rate is less than the initial bit error rate, the value of notch depth for the initial bit error rate is returned as the worst case value. In this way, worst case susceptibility of a digital microwave radio to multipath fading is indicated by notch depth.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and kit for installing molding such as baseboards and crown molding to a residential or commercial dwelling. The molding is attached to the dwelling by a magnetic bond which can be easily broken without damaging the molding and the structure. A magnet and magnetic conductor are affixed to the trim and dwelling respectively to removably secure the trim to the dwelling. The magnet and magnetic conductor can include an adhesive layer for securing each. The magnetic apparatus provides ease of initial installation of the trim and ease of the removal and replacement of the trim when painting and installing flooring.
Abstract:
A system and method for sharing portfolio allocation information among various participants while dispensing with the notion of specific roles of advisors and followers. The system and method includes a mechanism for allowing any participant to follow any other participant while creating greater diversity. The system and method may also provide an advice-following mechanism where those people who make smart investment decisions, or those people who are good at picking other people to make smart investments, will garner more followers and/or rewards.
Abstract:
Some spoken languages can be written, for example, by using a single character to represent a single word. Some characters can be represented different sets of phonetic codes. A character from a datastore can be retrieved and compared against an input string which might contain the same phonetic codes.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system for a content wheel displayed on a graphical user interface (GUI) for scrolling through a set of content. The content wheel can present various types of content for which the user can view and interact. The content wheel provides a circular scrolling path for which a user's gestures are tracked. As the content wheel is spun, the content is programmatically changed. This allows continual visual interaction with the associated content and creates a visibly stunning interaction for the user. Additionally, there can be any number of content items displayed on the content wheel, as the school wheel's display and functionality allows for scalability of the interactive and displayed content.
Abstract:
A system, a method and computer-readable media for presenting project information to a user. A project is represented by multiple objects. Items of information are received, and each of these items is associated with one of the objects. A user input selecting an object is received. In response to this input, the items of information associated with the selected object are presented to a user.
