The method comprises: establishing a radio connection from the network part transmitter to a user equipment; sending a signal on the radio connection from the network part transmitter using the transmission power required; receiving the signal in the user equipment; measuring a quality value for the signal and determining a power control command based on the quality value, signalling the power control command from the user equipment to the transmitter; specifying the power control required in the transmitter using a delay requirement of a service to be transferred over the radio connection and at least one received power control command as the basis for making the power control decision; continuing the method from the second operation, i.e. sending a signal on the radio connection from the network part transmitter using the transmission power required.

    摘要: A method and device for initiating uplink data packet communication from a mobile device to a base station on a common packet channel is disclosed. The communication is initiated when the mobile device reads broadcast status of common packet channels, after which the mobile device sends an access preamble to the base station that is acknowledged by the base station, and then the mobile device sends a collision preamble which the base station answers with a matching collision response. If the base station's response to the collision preamble also includes a channel allocation message, then the base station begins uplink data packet communication on an allocated channel provided that the allocated channel previously had free broadcast status. However, if the base station's response to the collision preamble includes a channel allocation message designating channel(s) not previously having free broadcast status, then the mobile device's access attempt is aborted.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method of generating a carrier wave of common channels and a radio system. The radio system comprises a network part, subscriber terminals and a bidirectional transmission path between the network part and the subscriber terminal. The bidirectional transmission path consists of frames to be transmitted at a carrier wave frequency. A frame comprises time slots. To a time slot is applied a channel, the channel being either a common channel (FCCH, SCH, BCCH, CCCH) or a dedicated channel (TCH). The carrier wave is generated by adjusting transmission powers of time slots and by using frequency hopping to the effect that first there is transmitted at least one time slot containing a common channel (FCCH, SCH, BCCH, CCCH), with a predetermined reference power. Then, other time slots are transmitted with a transmission power lower than the reference power, and using frequency hopping. In accordance with the invention at least one other time slot determined by the transmission power sequence is transmitted with the reference power, using frequency hopping.
