Abstract: A system and method for wireless thermal management is provided. The system may receive at least one wireless link capacity estimate from a first device. The wireless link capacity estimate may indicate an estimated data transfer or transmission rate associated with the communication device. The system may receive at least one throughout estimate from a second device. The at least one throughput estimate may be associated with a data transfer rate during a time period. The system may determine, based on the at least one wireless link capacity estimate or the at least one throughput estimate, a wireless link metric indicating or denoting a power consumption or a load associated with the communication device. The system may determine, based on the wireless link metric, whether to apply a level of thermal mitigation to the communication device.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for changing cell range coverage are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include circuitry configured to transmit subframes of radio frames using a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), where the subframes are divided into first and second sets. The circuitry may include a first power control loop utilized for the first set of subframes and a second power control loop utilized for the second set of subframes. The first power control loop may set transmission power levels for transmission over the PUSCH for the first set of subframes, and the second power control loop may set transmission power levels for transmission over the PUSCH for the second set of subframes. The circuitry may be configured with a first physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) for a first eNodeB and a second PUCCH for a second eNodeB to simultaneously communicate with the first and the second eNodeBs.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining a coherence block for each user equipment (UE) of a plurality of UEs being served by the first cell, resulting in a plurality of coherence blocks, responsive to the determining, identifying a smallest coherence block from the plurality of coherence blocks, identifying a pilot sequence length based on the smallest coherence block, determining a plurality of orthogonal pilot sequences based on the identifying the pilot sequence length, designating, from the plurality of orthogonal pilot sequences, a first group of orthogonal pilot sequences for use in the first cell, and distributing, to each neighboring cell of a plurality of neighboring cells adjacent to the first cell, a respective group of orthogonal pilot sequences from a remainder of the plurality of orthogonal pilot sequences, to prevent pilot contamination between the first cell and the plurality of neighboring cells. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to improved communication quality of service in communication networks. A customer may pay different fees for different tiers of service relating to voice quality and bandwidth access. Higher service tiers may guarantee that a specific vocoder or bit rate is used; or guarantee that communication is supported by parameters such as maximum allowed dropped calls rate, jitter and latency. Availability may be guaranteed per the contract between subscribers and service providers. Different tiers may be associated with customers' records for billing purposes. High end devices may be afforded higher voice quality by comparing a given device to a look up table indicating what service level is associated therewith. A calling device or a receiving device may ask the other device to change the vocoder or bit rate to ensure a higher quality call. The user may also change the quality level before or during a call.

The method can include transmitting data traffic from the wireless communication device via an aggressor wireless communication technology; determining occurrence of an in-device interference condition resulting from transmission of the data traffic via the aggressor wireless communication technology interfering with concurrent data reception by the wireless communication device via a victim wireless communication technology; and reducing a bit rate of the data traffic transmitted via the aggressor wireless communication technology in response to the in-device interference condition.
