    摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes an image carrier made up of a conductive base and photoconductive layer and a toner carrier to which a bias for development is applied. The toner carrier conveys toner deposited thereon to a developing position where the toner carrier faces the image carrier, thereby developing a latent image formed on the image carrier. The apparatus effects low-voltage development that protects the image carrier from electrostatic fatigue, obviates background contamination, and realizes image density as high as 0.5 ×10−3 g/cm2 or above in terms of the amount of toner deposition. Further, the apparatus implements faithful development of the latent image by reducing the edge effect. An image forming process unit removable from the apparatus is also disclosed.

    摘要： A toner carrier in a mono-ingredient nonmagnetic developing device for an electrostatic printing machine which is a roller rotating in contact with a latent image carrier to carry toner on a surface of the latent image carrier, and to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on the latent image carrier with the toner. A toner carrier according to the first invention comprises a rotating shaft, an elastic layer surrounding the shaft, and a thin resin layer built up around the elastic layer or a thin resin cylinder provided with conductivity. A toner carrier according to the second invention comprises a conductive rotating shaft, an elastic layer surrounding the shaft, a thin cylinder surrounding the elastic layer and a toner carrying layer surrounding the cylinder, where the thin cylinder is conductive and the elastic layer is conductive or semi-conductive. And a toner carrier according to the third invention comprises a rotating shaft, an elastic layer surrounding the shaft, and a base consisting of a thin cylinder surrounding the elastic layer, where the elastic layer is made of compression molded soft urethane foam.

    摘要： The present invention is such that in a recording apparatus comprising a toner image carrier and an intermediate image transfer material which receives the toner image transferred from the image carrier and then transfers the toner image onto the subsequent transfer sheet material (recording sheet), and an image transfer section for transferring the toner image onto the moving transfer sheet material comprising a transfer roller and pressure roller pressing thereon, the recording apparatus has the following pre-heating means comprising a heat member and a pressing member which is located at a position prior to the transfer section and which, brings the subsequent transfer sheet material into close contact with or presses the subsequent transfer sheet material against the periphery of the pressure roller, the member being provided at least on its side facing the transfer sheet material with a heat-resistant, elastically deformable porous material.

    摘要： An electrostatic recording apparatus comprising an ion modulator, a driving circuit for transforming a first image signal into a second image signal and for applying said second image signal to the ion modulator, a member for forming electrostatic latent image, and a photon coupled isolator. A voltage of the second image signal is higher than a voltage of the first image signal. The first image signal is supplied to the driving circuit through the photon coupled isolator. The ion modulator is a multilayered ion modulator comprising a layer of insulating material, a continuous layer of conductive material and a segmented layer of conductive material on the other side of said insulating layer. Each segment of the segmented conductive layer is insulatively isolated from each other segment. The multilayered ion modulator has at least one of row of apertures formed therethrough. A segment of the segmented conduction layer is formed around each aperture.

    摘要： A copying machine comprising an image signal generating unit including a solid image pickup element for converting an optical image into an electric signal; an ion generating source; and an electrostatic image forming unit including an ion control electrode. The ion control electrode has a control electrode and a common electrode arranged to face each other through an insulating layer and formed with fine openings arranged in a row or in plural adjacent rows. At least one of the electrodes being divided into such a plurality of blocks as has its one or plural openings electrically insulated at a close spacing across the aforementioned arranged openings and as are wired to receive electric signals from the aforementioned image signal generating unit, the common electrode being operative to control the flow of ions, which are directed toward a charge holder, if necessary, together with the control electrode in response to a bias voltage applied. A reference voltage corresponding to the color to be recorded is preset so that the voltage corresponding to the difference between the reference voltage and the signal voltage is applied to the control electrode of the ion control electrode.
