Abstract: A fresh water heating system for mobile applications is provided which comprises: a coolant reservoir for storing a predetermined amount of coolant, the coolant reservoir comprising a coolant inlet for supplying coolant to the coolant reservoir and a coolant outlet for discharging coolant from the coolant reservoir; a coolant circuit connected to the coolant inlet and the coolant outlet, the coolant circuit comprising a fuel-operated heat source (5; 5′); and a liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger arranged in the coolant reservoir for transferring heat from stored coolant to fresh water.
