Scheduling a given event, in one aspect, may include obtaining a set of one or more business rules, obtaining analytics, and obtaining an event specification. The event specification may include at least one content specification and two or more transmission modes. The event may be scheduled based on the event specification, the analytics and the business rules. The scheduling may be indicated by a tuple comprising event content, one or more communication modes selected from the two or more transmission modes, and timing of the scheduled event.

The system and method in one aspect provide a set of extended Boolean operators and a tree visual paradigm that enable business users to modularize the construction of a rule and visualize it as the rules is being built.

Smart Mark-up or highlighting delimits a rule using ontology technology to identify words and fields as objects and/or possible values in the rule. These technologies support the user in formalizing parts of the rules in a manner consistent with the system's data.

A detachable display unit for portable devices is field replaceable and can be interchanged rapidly for service, upgrade or more flexible use. The display is a simple field replaceable unit that can be replaced in a matter of a few seconds in a routine way, allowing more cost effective service both for the repair organization and the consumer. This is made possible by a set of electrical interfaces and connectors for portable devices such that high cost and fragile displays can be quickly changed in the field by the consumer. The specific sets of interfaces and connectors for different classes of portable devices utilize as much as possible common electrical and physical components, thereby standardizing the electrical interfaces and connectors.

Method and system for determining estimation variance associated with project planning are provided. In one aspect, information associated with a project is obtained and initial estimations for the tasks in the project are determined using available information. The tasks are performed and actual measurements are obtained from the completed tasks. The actual measurements are used to revise the estimates of the remaining tasks. The revised estimates are used to compute a project level estimate and a variance on that estimate, and to enable better project management.

A mark-based containment system, in one aspect, may include a graphical user interface operable to receive an indication of a mark as a container marking, attribute one or more container attributes to the container marking, and store the container mark and the container attributes associated with the container mark.

Automatically creating a series of intermediate states may include receiving a start state and an end state of a reactive system, identifying one or more components of the start state and the end state and determining one or more events associated with the one or more components. One or more intermediate states between the start state and the end state, and one or more transitions from and to the one or more intermediate states are created using the one or more components of the start state and the end state and the one or more events associated with the one or more components. The one or more intermediate states and the one or more transitions form one or more time-based paths from the start state to the end state occurring in response to applying the one or more events to the associated one or more components.
