摘要: In a method and apparatus for identifying and distinguishing fungal species, a hyperspectral imaging scanner is used to acquire hyperspectral image data for radiation obtained from a sample area in which at least one unknown fungal species is present. A computer compares the acquired hyperspectral image data with spectral signature data stored in a digital library, which includes spectral signature data for each one of a group of known fungal species, and identifies the fungal species, based on the result of such comparison. The spectral signature data stored in the digital library take into account, for each fungal species, spectral variations that can occur due to at least one of environmental and temporal influences. The computer comparison includes a pixel-by-pixel analysis of the degree of difference between acquired hyperspectral image data and the spectral signature data, so that a spatial distribution of identified fungal species can be determined for a sample area.

摘要: Improved features for a filter system for a deep fat fryer are described. The fryer includes a movable filter pan disposed below the cooking tank which is fed by gravity when the tank is drained through a downspout. The downspout is curved and rotatable from a down position when it is in use/storage to an up position when it is not in use and a stabilizing clip is mounted on the downspout to secure a separate polishing tube when it is in the down or horizontal position to allow one handle to lift two pipes at the same time for removal of the filter pan. An inline removable filter is provided in the oil return line, and the return line is slidably supported on the side of the filter pan so that it can rise and fall with the debris in the filter pan.

摘要: A rotatable electrical connector or swivel is used in a substantially vertical subterranean portion of a drill string within a drill pipe. The swivel has an enclosed oil filled chamber having a first shaft concentrically mounted therein. The first shaft protrudes from the chamber and is electrically connected to one end of a wireline which is used for electrical connection between the surface and instruments located downhole. Within the interior of the oil filled chamber the first shaft is attached to a first member disposed within the complementary surface of a second member concentrically aligned with the first member. The second member includes a second shaft which protrudes from the oil filled chamber and is connected to the other end of the wireline. One of the two shafts is rotatably mounted in bearing within the chamber so that the complementary surfaces of the first and second members are in the relationship of a rotor and stator. Continuous, electrical contact between the rotor and stator surfaces are assured by placement of a plurality of berrylium copper wire spring wipers between the rotors and stators. The enclosure of the oil filled chamber, includes an elastic member which permits equalization of the internal oil pressure within the chamber with the external hydrostatic pressure of the drilling fluid or other fluid present in the drill pipe.

摘要: A windrow-type paving machine movable along a windrow of paving material includes a loading conveyor operable to transfer the upper portion of the paving material within the windrow into a hopper. The remainder of the paving material remains on the roadway and passes through a tunnel formed in the paving machine to a lateral auger and screed which cooperate to spread and level the paving material. The machine provides a hopper which receives the upper portion of the paving material for subsequent delivery by a conveyor to the lateral auger and screed when insufficient paving material passes through the tunnel to produce the required paving. Agitator means are provided in the tunnel to break up lumps of paving material and the like before they reach the auger.

摘要: Process and apparatus for measuring liquid level changes in horizontally disposed cylindrical storage tanks compensates for thermal expansion and contraction of the liquid in the tank during the measurements. A vertically disposed substantially cylindrical container in the storage tank has a valve which controls fluid communication between the container and the storage tank. A float and associated sensing mechanism measure the level of liquid in the container. A measurement of the liquid level is made in the beginning of the test with fluid communication open between the container and the tank. A second measurement is taken after a fixed time period during which fluid communication between the container and the tank is closed. From the second measurement a theoretical liquid level is calculated which would exist in the tank due to temperature effects, and without leakage. With fluid communication between the container and the tank open against a third liquid level meaurement is made to measure changes due to leakage. Liquid is thereafter added or withdrawn to restore the theoretical liquid level in the tank and to quantify the volume of leakage. The float utilized in the container preferably includes a shaft fixedly mounted to the container, and a damper piston mounted to the shaft. A float cup which engages the damper piston has a flexible diaphragm mounted to it. The diaphragm engages the shaft and substantially centers the float cup about the shaft.
