    摘要: Apparatus mountable in a projectile for utilization with a rotor-type safing and arming mechanism for post-launch self-neutralization of a projectile having a fused warhead and a stab detonator, including a launch-activated battery, an electric detonator positioned sufficiently close to the stab detonator to initiate the stab detonator upon initiation of the electric detonator, and a time delay switch circuit operatively interconnecting the battery and the electric detonator after a predetermined delay time for delivering power sufficient to initiate the electric detonator. The time delay switch circuit includes an R-C delay circuit having a delay capacitor, and an SCR connected in series between the electric power source and the electric detonator, with the SCR gate operatively connected to the delay capacitor. The apparatus also includes a pre-launch shorting circuit electrically connected in parallel with the electric detonator, and a current amplifier interconnected with the SCR and a storage capacitor.

    摘要: This invention provides a subcaliber projectile which is launched from a full bore projectile having a shaped charge warhead prior to impact with the target. The subcaliber projectile is tethered to the full bore projectile by means of a fine electrical cable of fixed length which serves as the communication link between the two projectiles with the length of the cable determining the fuzing standoff distance. The ballistic coefficient of the subcaliber projectile is made such that the subcaliber projectile always flies ahead of the full bore projectile.

    摘要: In an ammunition fuzing system, a fuze setter is inductively coupled with an electronic fuze incorporated in the projectile of an ammunition round being fed to a rapid-fire cannon to transmit power supply charging energy and fuze-setting data thereto. A detonation counter is incremented at a high counting rate to accumulate a projectile flight time count indicative of the fuze-setting data. A conformation signal is transmitted to the fuze setter for determination that the flight time count acceptably corresponds to the setting data. Upon projectile launch, the detonation counter is decremented at a low counting rate and functions the projectile warhead when decremented to zero.

    摘要: This invention provides a safing and arming mechanism for a fuze for a spinning projectile including a ball rotor journaled for rotation within a cavity in the fuze. A firing pin, said cavity and a booster charge lie along the longitudinal axis of the fuze. The rotor carries a stab sensitive detonator in its diametral bore. A first spring mounted on a first seat cut into the ball normally fixes the ball with the detonator, out of alignment with the longitudinal axis of the fuze. A second spring mounted on a second seat cut into the ball also fixes the ball out of alignment. To release the ball, the first spring must be shifted aftwardly by setback force to a third seat cut into the ball, and the second spring must be enlarged by centrifugal force and removed from said second seat.

    摘要: A proximity fuzing system includes a passive proximity detection section including an electrostatic probe for detecting initial missile entry into the electric field inherently associated with an airborne target. Probe signals are processed to determine that the intercepted electric field is characteristic of a valid target, and, if so, an active proximity detection section, such as a radar proximity detector, is rendered operational to trigger a warhead detonator at the optimum point in the missile's engaging trajectory to inflict maximum possible damage on the target.
