    摘要: An apparatus includes a body configured to be at least partially inserted into a rectum of a patient. The body defines a first passageway and a second passageway between a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The first passageway is configured to receive a medical tool and the second passageway is configured to communicate an insufflation medium. An insufflation port is coupled to the second passageway and is configured to communicate the insufflation medium to the second passageway. A retention portion is coupled to the body and is configured to have a dimension transverse to an axis defined by the body sufficient to retain at least a portion of the body in the rectum. The retention portion is configured to be located beyond an anus of the patient.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a plug-type connection for releasably connecting two bodies wherein the first body includes a first connection zone having a plurality of coaxially aligned first connection segments and the second body includes a plurality of coaxially aligned second connection segments. The first connection segment includes at least one segment with a non-circular cross-section and at least one segment having an axially tapering cross-section. The second connection segment includes at least one segment with a non-circular cross section sized and configured for rotatively engaging the non-circular cross section of the first connection segment and at least one segment sized and configured to mate with the at least one tapering section, wherein the tapered section of the first connection segment and the mating section of the second connection segment form an axially non-positive engagement for guiding the first body into engagement with the second body. The axially tapering cross-section of the first connection segment is preferably made from a deformable material so that the axially tapering cross section deforms when it mates with the second connection segment.

    摘要: Embolic protection aspirators and methods for extracting debris from the vasculature during interventional procedures are provided. One such system may include an aspirating filter delivery catheter having a filtration device, an operable end cap, and a plurality of aspiration ports. The delivery catheter may be fluidly coupled to a suction providing means for extracting debris while traversing a target site for distal delivery of the filtration device. Another such system may include an aspirating filter retrieval catheter having an aspiration lumen and a balloon. The aspiration lumen may be fluidly coupled to a suction providing means for extracting debris from the filtration device prior to and/or during retrieval of the filtration device. By inflating the balloon to partially or fully restrict blood flow, suction pressure proximal of the filtration device may be increased to enhance debris extraction.
