摘要: The invention includes a communication network for rotating media channels between resources of an emergency services network and a conforming emergency system (CES). A conforming emergency system and one of the resources of the emergency services network dynamically establish a first media channel between one another over a transport network. With the first media channel established, the conforming emergency system and the resource exchange messages over the first media channel to facilitate the CES in handling emergency events. Responsive to a triggering event, the CES and one of the resources (the same or another resource) dynamically establish a second media channel between one another over the transport network. With the second media channel established, the conforming emergency system and the resource exchange messages over the second media channel to facilitate the CES in handling emergency events. The first media channel may be torn down.

摘要: A second mirror appended to an existing rear-view mirror, set to provide an “at a glance” determination of the relative position of a vehicle or obstruction to the rear. The add-on mirror is aimed at a specific point on the road to the rear chosen by the driver to provide safe clearance for his vehicle when pulling in after passing or while backing up. If an object visible in the primary rear-view mirror does not show in the add-on mirror, the vehicle or obstruction is beyond the pre-selected range. If visible in both mirrors, the object is at less than the selected range. The driver is provided with “hard” information on position without having to guess based on the distorted image presented by a single mirror.

摘要: The invention includes a communication network for dynamically establishing media channels between conforming emergency systems (CES) and resources of an emergency services network. The CES transmits a request message for a media channel to the packet network. One of the resources of the emergency services network receives the request message. The resource responds to the request message to dynamically establish the media channel. The CES may then exchange messages with the resource over the media channel to facilitate the CES in handling emergency events. In other embodiments, a resource transmits a request message for a media channel to the packet network. The CES receives the request message, and responds to the request message to dynamically establish the media channel. The CES and the resource may then exchange messages over the media channel to facilitate the CES in handling emergency events.

摘要: A system and method that provides communication devices with the capability of informing the user where the other party is located. A communication device receives a communication initialization signal. The communication device then receives data comprising location data of the communication device that initiated the communication. The data is translated into human-understandable form and conveyed to the user of the communication device. The device may be a mobile telephone, personal digital assistant, two-way pager or any other similar mobile system. The human-understandable form may be text on a text display, graphics on a graphics display (such as a map) or audio information. Alternatively, a communication device receives location data as part of the communication initialization signal. The device then translates the location data into human-understandable form and conveys that data to the user of the communication device.
