Abstract: An adapter of a common gateway platform associated with an industrial automation system is described for communicating data acquired from various devices using a data model of the common gateway platform with external components using various data models. The computing device may determine a relationship between datasets of the native data model and datasets of an external component based on obtaining an application programming interface (API) and/or software development kit (SDK) of the external component. Accordingly, the adapter may enable the common gateway platform to interact with the external component by providing functionalities of the external component as native functions of the computing device. That is, the adapter may provide functions to connect, create, read, write, update, delete, run commands and queries, and disconnect from the external component using native commands and actions of the common gateway platform.

Abstract: Various systems and methods are presented regarding monitoring and controlling operation of a process. A visual representation of the process can be created based on a supermodel comprising models (representing one or more devices) and nodes (representing respective device variables and constraints). Further, the process can be represented by levels, wherein devices at each level can be self-aware and have onboard artificial intelligence, such that a device at any level can auto-configure itself in accordance with a requirement placed upon it. Field-level devices (IFLDs) can be smart devices which auto-configure based upon a requirement from a higher-level device. Accordingly, system awareness can be incorporated across all levels of the process enabling overall and device-specific optimization of the process. IFLDs can auto-configure to collect and transmit data in accordance with an instruction from a higher-level device, leading to efficient data collection, reduced data bandwidth/processing, and expedited system optimization.

Abstract: A method may include receiving, via a computing system, a request to access an industrial device within an industrial system. The computing system may be communicatively coupled to the industrial device via a data backplane, and the request may be received from a remote device separate from the data backplane. The method may also include determining whether the remote device is authenticated for accessing the computing system, establishing a secure communication session with the remote device in response to the remote device being authenticated, and routing data from the remote device to the industrial device via the data backplane.

Abstract: An industrial software management system uses subscription tokens to license industrial software to customers. According to an example licensing structure, a software customer can purchase subscription tokens that are shared among users within the customer's organization and that allow those users to check out and use industrial software products. The subscription tokens regulate the number of software product instances that may be used concurrently by the users. When a user checks out a software product for use, the customer's total number of available subscription tokens commensurate with a cost of the selected software product. When the user relinquishes use of the product, the subscription tokens are returned to the pool of available tokens. Users may only check out a software product for use is if a sufficient number of unused subscription tokens are available.

Abstract: A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed, are configured to cause a processor to perform operations that include receiving process input data associated with one or more automation devices, determining a plurality of operating conditions corresponding to the one or more automation devices; clustering the process input data based on the plurality of operating conditions, receiving a decision tree representative of the plurality of operating conditions and corresponding process input data, determining a splitting criterion for one or more nodes of the decision tree based on the clustered process input data, wherein the splitting criterion is configured to link the process input data to at least two operating conditions based on the decision tree, generating control logic for the one or more automation devices based on the decision tree and splitting criterion, and sending the control logic to the one or more automation devices.

Abstract: A method for security and safety of an industrial operation includes receiving sensor information from a plurality of sensors of an industrial operation. Sensor information from at least a portion of the plurality sensors is used for functionality of a plurality of components of the industrial operation. The method includes monitoring data traffic of the industrial operation, and deriving a baseline signature from the sensor information. The baseline signature encompasses a range of normal operating conditions. The method includes identifying an abnormal operating condition of the industrial operation based on a comparison between additional sensor information from the plurality of sensors and the baseline signature and identifying an abnormal data traffic condition. The method includes determining that the abnormal operating condition correlates to the abnormal data traffic condition, and sending a security alert in response to determining that the abnormal operating condition correlates to the abnormal data traffic condition.

Abstract: For updating a computer vision model, a method converts a user input drawing including a user annotation of a first image in a drawing format to a training format image in a training format for a computer vision model. The method generates a training-representation drawing from the training format image. The training-representation drawing includes an image inference for the first image. The method receives user feedback for the training-representation drawing in the drawing format. The method updates the computer vision model based on the user feedback. The method generates an image inference for a second image based on the updated computer vision model and generates model-health metrics, agreement-metrics, and a sortable image index to explain image inferences with respect to guided user annotation of the second image. The method caches partial results from the image-inferences to afford quicker updating of computer vision models, affording more iterative model-development than ad-hoc model-evaluation.
