    摘要: This invention relates to a control arrangement for an automatic machine tool wherein a master cam is mounted on a movable carrier. The shape of the master cam is sensed by a main follower which controls a milling tool operating in a rotating workpiece. An auxiliary cam is rotated with the workpiece and an auxiliary follower co-operates with the auxiliary cam. The auxiliary follower is coupled to the carrier and the coupling is selectably operable to cause displacement of the master cam in either one of two mutually opposite directions in response to displacement of the auxiliary follower in a predetermined direction. The profile of the master cam has two linear portions at respectively opposite ends of its profile and each linear portion is parallel to the direction of displacement of the carrier, whereby the displacement of the master cam when the main follower is in contact with either one of the linear end portions does not result in displacement of the master follower.

    摘要: In machines for wrapping rectangular block-like articles such as cigarette packets, the articles are enveloped in wrapping material in a first part of the machine and the wrapping material is heat sealed in a second part of the machine. Each part is provided with drive means so that when the first part is inoperative (during changing of a reel of wrapping material) the second part remains operative and damage to the articles due to overheating, while stationary in the second part, is avoided. The parts may be driven by separate motors, or a single motor employing a clutch. Alternatively, an auxiliary motor may drive the second part when a main motor driving both parts is inoperative. The speed at which the second part is driven may be related to the temperature at which the wrapping material is heat sealed.

    摘要: A rotatably mounted drum provided with a plurality of axially extending troughs having openings disposed around the circumferential surface of the drum, is disclosed. Cigarettes are fed radially into the openings as the drum rotates. The troughs are of such a depth that the cigarettes do not project above the drum surface, consequently, as the drum rotates in contact with a movable belt extending over an arcuate portion of its circumference, the troughs are closed while covered by the belt. While the troughs are so closed, air under pressure is injected into the closed troughs and a vacuum source is applied, via an axial bore in a piston pressed against the cigarettes'' end surface, to the respective cigarette. The resulting air displacement, if any, is monitored and, where it exceeds a predetermined amount, indicating that the cigarette wrapping paper is faulty - the cigarette is rejected.

    摘要: A machine for packaging cigarettes is disclosed. The machine includes a plurality of rotatable translator members - preferably three - each having a plurality of compartments - preferably four - for receiving a group of cigarettes. The translator devices are each rotatable about a respective horizontal axis of rotation, the axes of rotation are mutually spaced apart and the translator members are staggered relative to one another in a direction parallel to their axes of rotation. Thus, next adjacent translator members are so disposed relative to one another that a group of cigarettes from a compartment in one of the translator members, or a group of cigarettes which have been wrapped to form a package as the case may be, can be pushed directly and by a simple sliding motion from a compartment of that translator member to a compartment in a next adjacent translator member while the two compartments are aligned end-to-end in the axial direction. The machine also includes means for feeding an inner wrapper into a compartment in a second translator member, and means for feeding an outer wrapper into a compartment of a final translator member.

    摘要: A device for folding a sheet of wrapping material around external surfaces of an article of parallelepipedonal shape is disclosed. The device comprises a revolver provided with wall members defining a plurality of cells, the revolver being so rotatable stepwise that each of the cells comes to rest successively at a first station, a second station, a third station and a fourth station of the device. The cells are constructed so to receive at the first station a sheet of wrapping material and so to receive at the second station an article to be wrapped that such sheet of wrapping material is disposed between the received article and walls of the cell in which that article is received, with lobes of the sheet projecting in a direction radial to the axis of rotation beyond a radially outward facing side of the article. Folder means are disposed at the second station, the folder means comprising a folder member rotatably mounted on carrier means reciprocatably displaceable along guide means, and drive means to displace the folder member between a first position - in which the folder member is radially spaced apart from the radially outward facing side of a cell at the second station - and a second position - in which the folder member is disposed next adjacent the radially outward facing side of the cell at the second station. The drive means, in displacing the folder member from its first position towards its second position, initially imparts rotational motion to the folder member relative to the carrier means and, subsequently to the initiation of the rotational motion, imparts such translational motion to the carrier means that - when the device is in use - the folder member is moved along the radially outward facing side of the cell at the second station to engage one of the radially projecting lobes and to fold the latter against that side of an article in the cell.
