摘要: A method for hip distraction includes positioning a patient on a slide-resisting pad placed on a surgical table; tilting the surgical table so that the patient is in a first degree of inclination; applying a distraction force to a leg of the patient while the patient is in the first degree of inclination so that a hip joint of the patient is distracted, wherein the distraction force is opposed by a combination of a slide-resisting friction force provided by the slide-resisting pad and a gravitational force attributable to the first degree of inclination; reducing the tilt of the surgical table in accordance with a reduction of the distraction force over time so that the patient is in a second degree of inclination; and performing at least a portion of a surgical procedure on the distracted hip joint while the patient is in the second degree of inclination.

摘要: Systems and methods for detecting, characterizing, and addressing surgical smoke are disclosed. In some embodiments, a surgical system receives image data representing an image of a surgical environment and generates sets of values based on the received image. The sets of values may include representations of atmospheric light in the image and representations of contrast values in the image. The system may determine from the sets of values whether predetermined smoke severity criteria are met, and may responsively automatically engage and/or disengage one or more surgical devices, such as a surgical smoke evacuation system and/or an image processing system (e.g., a video enhancement feature) configured to improve quality of smoky surgical images.

摘要: A system including an instrument adapted to be manually supported and moved by a user. The instrument having a hand-held portion, a drive mechanism movably coupled to the hand-held portion, and a plurality of actuators operatively coupled to the drive mechanism for moving the drive mechanism in at least two degrees of freedom relative to the hand-held portion. The instrument also includes a tracking device for tracking the instrument and a working portion removably coupled to the drive mechanism by a coupling assembly. The system further comprises a navigation system for determining a position of the working portion and a bone to be cut during the medical procedure and a control system in communication with the actuators and configured to control the actuators to actively position the working portion such that the working portion is substantially maintained on a plane.

摘要: A patient support apparatus includes a support structure having a patient support deck and a side rail coupled to the support structure. The side rail is movable relative to the support structure. A lock releasably locks the side rail in one or more side rail positions, such as in a raised position and an intermediate position. A manual release is coupled to the side rail and operable to unlock the side rail. A bypass lever is provided to allow a user to raise the side rail from a lowered position to the raised position without locking in the intermediate position. A damper is located inside the side rail to counterbalance the weight of the side rail and assist the user in raising the side rail, bi-directionally. The side rail is formed of first and second walls that are heat staked together to form a lightweight side rail of suitable strength.

The mounting member defines a brace surface shaped for supporting the patient treatment device. The brace surface is spaced from a grasping portion of the handle to permit a user to grab the handle while supporting the patient treatment device.
