摘要： A transistor array substrate includes a plurality of driving transistors which are arrayed in a matrix on a substrate. The driving transistor has a gate, a source, a drain, and a gate insulating film inserted between the gate, and the source and drain. A plurality of signal lines are patterned together with the gates of the driving transistors and arrayed to run in a predetermined direction on the substrate. A plurality of supply lines are patterned together with the sources and drains of the driving transistors and arrayed to cross the signal lines via the gate insulating film. The supply line is electrically connected to one of the source and the drain of the driving transistor. A plurality of feed interconnections are formed on the supply lines along the supply lines, respectively.

The display drive apparatus has a specific value detection section detecting a difference value between a measured voltage detected at one end of a data line when a reference current is applied via the data line and a standard voltage corresponding to the reference current so as to obtain a specific value corresponding to variation of an element characteristic of the drive element, and a gradation signal correction section generating a corrected gradation signal by correcting a gradation signal according to display data based on the specific value so as to apply the corrected gradation signal from the one end of the data line to the display pixel.

摘要： An antiferroelectric liquid crystal display device includes: an active matrix type LC cell and an antiferroelectric liquid crystal sealed in the cell. Liquid crystal molecules aligned to one of a first aligning direction and a second aligning direction are aligned in the other aligning direction in accordance with an applied voltage, thus forming a plurality of regions of different alignment states in a range shorter than a wavelength of light in a visible light band, and directions of said directors are changed in accordance with a ratio of regions in a first alignment state to regions in a second alignment state. The liquid crystal molecules may behave along a predetermined cone by a phase transition precursor in accordance with an applied voltage. The liquid crystal molecules may behave so as to be inclined in a direction perpendicular to an electric field, in accordance with an applied voltage.

The liquid crystal in use is selected so that the first and second directions intersect each other at an angle of greater than 45.degree.. The transmission axis of one of a pair of polarization plates is set inclined to an intermediate direction between the first and second directions by 22.5.degree., and the optical axis of the other polarization plate is set perpendicular to the transmission axis of the former polarization plate. A voltage of a range which does not set the liquid crystal in a ferroelectric phase and can provide maximum and minimum transmittances is applied between electrodes which are so arranged as to sandwich a layer of the liquid crystal.
