Abstract:
A positioning device for positioning an orthopedic implant in a patient during a surgical procedure includes a first orthopedic fastener and a device body. The orthopedic fastener penetrates into a bone of the patient to secure the orthopedic implant to the bone. The device body is removably positionable at least partially subcutaneously within the patient. The device body can retract tissue of the patient and includes a first fastener guide that guides positioning of the first orthopedic fastener relative to the bone of the patient. The device body releasably secures the orthopedic implant during positioning of the orthopedic implant. The positioning device can also include an implant attacher that removably secures the orthopedic implant to the device body. The implant attacher movably extends through the device body along an attacher axis.
Abstract:
A paddle assembly includes a tubular shaft that is configured to be coupled to a blade of the paddle assembly. The shaft has a shaft length, a first flexural rigidity at a first location along the shaft length and a second flexural rigidity at a second location along the shaft length. The ratio of the first flexural rigidity to the second flexural rigidity can be at least approximately 1.20. The shaft is substantially linear along the shaft length. The shaft has a shaft midpoint. The first location and the second location are substantially equidistant from and on opposite sides of the shaft midpoint. The shaft can have a tubular configuration. The shaft has a plurality of layers of material at each of the first location and the second location. The orientation of the layers of material at the first location is different than the orientation of materials at the second location. A modulus of elasticity of the materials used to form the shaft varies along the shaft length. The shaft can be formed at least partially from carbon fiber materials.
Abstract:
A system for transmission of mode of access information between a first device operated by a first user and a second device operated by a second user includes a database that is in network communication with the first device and the second device. The database stores a plurality of different modes of access for contacting the first user that are devoid of alpha-numeric identifiers specific to the first user. The database allows the first user to select one of the modes of access as a current mode of access of the first user. The current mode of access of the first user can be communicated to the second device once the second device queries the database. The current mode of access of the first user can be selected from the group consisting of mobile phone, text message and electronic mail. The current mode of access of the first user can change automatically over time according to a schedule input into the database by the first user. In some embodiments, at least one of the first device and the second device is a web-based mobile phone.

Abstract:
A system for transmission of data from a first device operated by a first user includes a wireless device and a database. The wireless device is used by a second user and includes a memory for storage of data. The database is in network communication with the first device and the wireless device. The database receives and stores data from the first device. The database can synchronize a portion of the data from the first device with the memory of the wireless device on a periodic basis that is determined by the second user. The wireless device can include a mobile phone. Data from the first device can include a current mode of access of the first user. The database can synchronize a portion of the data from the first device with the memory of the wireless device automatically according to a predetermined time determined by the second user. Further, the database can synchronize a portion of the data from the first device with the memory of the wireless device whenever the data received by the database from the first device changes. In certain embodiments, the portion of the data from the first device that is synchronized between the database and the memory of the wireless device can be determined by the second user using the second device.

Abstract:
A system for transmission of data between a first device operated by a first user and a second device includes a database that receives a first set of data input by the first user and a second set of data input by the second user. In one embodiment, the first set of data includes an immediate mode of access and/or one or more future modes of access of the first user which correlate to one or more specific time periods during which the future mode of access will become the immediate mode of access. Additionally, the first set of data can include a time-dependent schedule of the future mode of access of the first user.
