Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products herein enable a mobile terminal with a cognitive radio to determine at least one white space spectrum database to access based on a current location and once the at least one white space spectrum database is accessed to determine the relevant communication protocols. One example method may include accessing one or more white space database identifiers. In some example embodiments, the white space database identifiers correspond to a white space database assigned to a region. The method may further include determining whether the one or more database identifiers match a database identifier associated with a schema In some example embodiments, the schema defines one or more parameters for exchanging information with a white space spectrum database. The method may further include selecting the schema that is associated with the matched database identifier.

Abstract:
A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to obtain white space information regarding one or more white space channels that are available at the current location of a mobile terminal and one or more service providers that offer connectivity utilizing the white space spectrum. In the context of a method performed, for example, by an access network discovery and selection function device, a location of a mobile terminal is determined and, based on the location of the mobile terminal, white space information is obtained. The method also causes the white space information to be provided to the mobile terminal, such as by utilizing a device management protocol. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

This invention provides a bandwidth-efficient mechanism whereby the source or originating node(s) (the invention supports multiple source nodes, each creating single or multiple broadcast message(s)) may utilize broadcast addressing service to efficiently reach multiple receiver nodes and still control which receiver node(s) may access the broadcast data or message. This method is realized by a novel and efficient key distribution technique.
