    摘要: A liquid lens includes a vessel having an inner wall and configured to contain liquid, an electrolyte liquid and a non-electrolyte liquid forming an interface therebetween and being contained in the vessel, and a voltage applying unit which applies a voltage to the electrolyte liquid. A shape of the interface between the electrolyte liquid and the non-electrolyte liquid is changed by application of the voltage. The inner wall of the vessel has varying affinity with the non-electrolyte liquid depending on a position on the inner wall where an end of the interface contacts the inner wall; and the affinity on the side of the inner wall where the non-electrolyte liquid is situated is lower than the affinity on the side of the inner wall where the electrolyte liquid is situated.

    摘要: The image observation apparatus includes a first image-forming element and a second image-forming element each of which forms an original image, and an optical system configured to introduce light fluxes from the first and second image-forming elements to an exit pupil position of the optical system where an eye of an observer is placed. The optical system includes an optical surface as a single surface that reflects the light flux from the first image-forming element and transmits the light flux from the second image-forming element. The first image-forming element and the second image-forming element respectively form a first original image and a second original image that correspond to different viewing fields from the exit pupil position. The apparatus combines plural original images to enable observation of one combined image and that can suppress generation of light scattering.

    摘要: A display device for displaying information is provided with an optical system for guiding the light of the display device to the eye, the optical system having, in the order in the proceeding direction of the light, an entrance face for receiving the light, a curved face for totally reflecting the light and a reflecting face concave to the eye side and adapted to reflect the light toward the eye. The reflected light is transmitted by the curved face and reaches the eye. Thus there is obtained a compact display device with satisfactorily suppressed aberrations.

    摘要: A scanning optical system capable of sufficiently enlarging an exit pupil and being reduced in size is disclosed. The scanning optical system has a scanning device used to scan light from a light source and a first optical system used to directs the light scanned by the scanning device to an exit pupil. The first surface has at least a reflective action and is decentered with respect to a central principal ray. The second surface reflects the light reflected by the first surface again toward the first surface. The first surface reflects the central principal ray, which has again been made incident to the first surface from the second surface, toward a side substantially opposite to a side toward which the central principal ray was reflected the last time with respect to a normal on a hit point of the central principal ray in the first surface.

    摘要: An optical system is disclosed with which higher magnification can be easily achieved and aberrations can be favorably corrected, yet is compact. The optical system includes a plurality of optical surfaces including a first surface which has at least a reflective action, a second surface reflecting the light rays reflected by the first surface back toward the first surface, and a diffractive optical surface. The first surface reflects a central field-angle principal ray, which comes from the second surface and is again incident on the first surface, to the opposite side of the previous reflection with respect to a normal at a hit point of the central field-angle principal ray on the first surface.

    摘要: An image observing apparatus has two light sources, a scanning mirror upon which light beams from the two light sources are incident in common, and two optical systems. The two optical systems respectively lead the light beams emitted from the two light sources and scanned by the scanning mirror to the right and left eyes of an observer. The light beams emitted respectively from the two light sources are scanned by the scanning mirror and form two-dimensional images for the right and left eyes on predetermined surfaces. Central field angle principal rays emitted respectively from the two light sources and reflected by the scanning mirror, exist on the same plane. Then, an angle made by the scanning mirror and by a surface vertical to the central field angle principal rays emerging from the two optical systems, is set so as to fall within a predetermined range.

The first optical system having a first surface formed on a transparent body with a reflecting action, a second surface reflecting light reflected on the first surface toward the first surface again, and a third surface formed on the transparent body transmitting light from the image. The light transmitted through the third surface travels toward the first surface and is reflected for the first time. In addition, a principal ray, central angle of view to be reflected for the last time on the first surfaces is reflected to a side opposite a side of the first reflection on the first surface with respect to a normal line of a surface on a hit point thereof.
