    摘要: A computer-implemented method includes, on a client system, receiving an email message that is a part of an email thread. The received email message includes gadget instructions and associated gadget data. In response to user selection of the received email message, updated gadget data is obtained and the gadget instructions are executed. Also in response to user selection of the received email message, an instance of a gadget associated with the gadget instructions in the email message is displayed in the client application. The displayed gadget is updated to reflect the obtained updated gadget data.

    摘要: In one implementation, a method for providing information to computer users includes receiving at a server system an indicator of an action performed on a third-party website by a first user of a social network of users. The method can also include creating by the server system first promotional information based upon the received indicator and information associated with the first user of the social network. The method can further include persistently storing by the server system the created first promotional information in a repository of promotional information, wherein the repository stores promotional information associated with a plurality of third-party websites for display to users of a plurality of social networks. The method can additionally include receiving at the server system a request for promotional information to display to a second user of the social network, the second user having an acquaintance relationship with the first user.

    摘要: In general, the subject matter described in this disclosure can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products. A computing system receives a first request to insert one or more first data values into a database table. The computing system identifies that first data stored by the database table is stored in a first logical partition of a logical collection of data. The logical collection of data is designated for replication among multiple data centers such that a copy of the logical collection of data is designated to be stored by each of the multiple data centers. The logical collection of data is logically partitioned into multiple logical partitions which together comprise the logical collection of data. The computing system sends, by the computing system and to the first data center, the first request to insert the one or more first data values into the database table.
