    摘要: According to one example, a tibial bearing component for articulation with a medial condyle and a lateral condyle of a femoral component in a knee replacement procedure is disclosed. The tibial bearing component can include a distal surface and an articular surface opposing the distal surface. The articular surface can include a medial compartment and a lateral compartment configured for articulation with the medial condyle and the lateral condyle of the femoral component, respectively. The lateral compartment can have a lateral articular track with a lateral anterior-posterior extent. The lateral articular track can comprise a plurality of distal-most points along a proximal surface of the lateral compartment that are contacted by the lateral condyle during rollback of the femoral component. The medial compartment can differ in configuration from the lateral compartment and can have an anterior lip height of between about 9 mm and about 13 mm.

    摘要: Instrumentation for and a method of sizing the end of a distal femur, and resecting the distal femur. An instrument body construct is provided with an instrument body and a valgus module for attachment to the instrument body. The instrument body construct has a distal aspect abutting surface with a planar face for abutting the distal aspect of a distal femur at a fixed angle to the longitudinal axis of the distal femur, having a posterior aspect abutting surface with a planar face for abutting the posterior aspect of the distal femur, and having a passageway therethrough. An anterior feeler gauge is provided for attachment to the instrument body construct and for contacting a portion of the anterior aspect of the distal femur to indicate the anterior-to-posterior size of the distal femur. A resection guide is provided for attachment to the instrument body construct for guiding a bone resection tool to resect the distal femur. The resection guide may have a first position for guiding the bone resection tool to perform an anterior femoral resection and a second position for guiding the bone resection tool to perform a distal femoral resection.

    摘要: A knee prosthetic including a tibial component defining medial and lateral concavities shaped to receive medial and lateral femoral condyles of the femur. The concavities have first portions for contact with the condyles during normal knee flexion and second portions for contact with the condyles during deep, or high, knee flexion. The medial concavity can include a conforming boundary that encompasses at least the first and second portions, wherein an area inside the conforming boundary has a generally flat surface. The flat surface allows the medial femoral condyle to slide and rotate posteriorly during high knee flexion. The conforming boundary can have a generally triangular shape with an apex extending anteriorly and a relatively wider base extending posteriorly, wherein the apex includes the first portion and the base includes the second portion. The relatively wider base portion advantageously allows additional area for posteriorly directed articulating contact during high knee flexion.

    摘要: A bone cable strap and surgical instruments pass the cable strap around a bone, tension it, fasten it and trim the excess cable. The surgical instruments include: a cable passer which has an arcuate guiding member having a groove facing the bone to guide the cable around the bone; a cable tensioner having concentric tubular members with a cable clamp at one end, a nipple at the other end, and a handle in between such that turning the handle spreads the cable clamp away from the nipple; and a combination cable crimper-cutter having jaws with both crimping and cutting edges. The cable strap is comprised of a flexible cable having a ferrule pre-affixed to one end. The cable is passed under the bone using the cable passer. The free end of the cable is passed through the ferrule and the cable tensioner is used to draw the cable tight around the bone. The crimper-cutter is then used to fasten the ferrule in place about the cable and trim the excess cable.

    摘要: A femoral caliper having one or more anatomical referencing members for placement against portions of the femur, such as the anterior cortex and posterior portion of the femoral condyles, to measure the femur for sizing of the femoral component. A reference mark positioning guide of the femoral caliper is connected to the anatomical referencing member and is capable of guiding placement of a reference mark on the femur that facilitates positioning of the femoral component. The femoral caliper includes an adjustment mechanism capable of displacing the reference mark positioning guide relative to the anatomical referencing member. This allows adjustment of the position of the reference mark (and hence the femoral component) on the femur to account for the up or down sizing of the femoral component. Preferably, the adjustment mechanism adjusts the reference mark positioning guide in the anterior-posterior direction to allow balancing of the tightness or laxity of the selected component.
