摘要： A system for improving the performance of a plurality of peripheral devices is disclosed. In one embodiment, the invention comprises a first peripheral device associated with a first software component and having a first functionality, and a second peripheral device associated with a second software component and having a second functionality, the second peripheral device being coupled to the first peripheral device, the first and second peripheral devices together performing functionality in addition to the first and second functionalities and having a common user interface.

摘要： The present invention provides a system for obtaining and distributing calendar information from one or more calendar sources, as may be defined by a user, in a manner that allows for easy incorporation of the obtained calendar information into a personal or group calendar database. A collection and distribution unit is provided for obtaining calendar information from a predetermined calendar source. If necessary, the collection and distribution unit may convert the obtained calendar information into a predetermined format. Calendar data is distributed by the collection and distribution unit in accordance with preferences specified by a subscriber record.

A digital image is acquired and automatically converted into an image data file with an associated date, and stored into a file system folder associated with that date. When the digital image is to be acquired using an optical scanner, the method automatically acquires the image using predefined scanner settings that are appropriate to a photographic image to scan the item.

摘要： A multifunction printing system, and a method for processing image files, which allows a sequence of multiple image processing operations on digital image files, such as photographs taken by a digital camera, to be specified and initiated at a single point in time. The system includes a command interface through which default values for image processing parameters can be set and an initial image processing operation initiated. The system also includes a scanner for receiving a combination proof sheet and order form. Prior to scanning, the proof sheet is marked by the user to identify the image files to be processed, any overriding image processing parameter values for some or all of the images, and any additional image processing operations to be performed. Image processing operations include printing image files, storing image files on a mass storage device, and sending image files via fax or e-mail.
