摘要： 3-Alkoxy-4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid useful as intermediate for preparation of pharmaceuticals is prepared by catalytic reduction with hydrogen using a palladium catalyst of corresponding 3-alkoxy-4-hydroxymandelic acid occurring as the reaction product between 2-alkoxyphenol and glyoxylic acid at high conversion and yield.
