Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for providing hot water for a hot water heater and heating capacity for a climate control system by utilizing a Stirling heat pump system. The Stirling heat pump may be partially integrated into an indoor unit of the climate control system and a hot water heater. An additional indoor heat exchanger may receive heating fluid from the Stirling heat pump system to provide heating capacity in addition to another indoor heat exchanger of the climate control system. Further, the heating fluid circuit of the Stirling heat pump system may be partially integrated into a hot water tank for heating water. A controller may direct the flow of heating fluid from the Stirling heat pump to the hot water tank and/or the climate control system based on a request for heating.

Abstract: An embodiment of a cold storage system includes a chamber defined at least in part by an outer door and a refrigeration assembly operably coupled to the chamber. In addition, the cold storage system includes a metallic shelving assembly positioned in the chamber. The shelving assembly has a plurality of shelves that each include a front lateral frame member, a back lateral frame member, and a guide coupled to and spanning between the front and back lateral frame members. The guide includes a planar, horizontal guide surface. Further, the cold storage system includes a storage pan positioned at least partially above the guide surface. The storage pan includes an elongate runner extending below and along a bottom side of the storage pan. The elongate runner at least partially includes a polymer and is configured to slidably engage the guide surface.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for providing an elevated third-stage of operation to a two-stage compressor of a climate control system. The first low stage and the second high stage are provided with open or closed bypass ports respectively and by operating the two-stage compressor at a rated power setting. The elevated third-stage of operation is provided by operating the two-stage compressor at the high stage with an overdrive power setting. The elevated third-stage may be enabled in heating mode and locked out in cooling mode. The two-stage compressor may be further locked out of the second high stage in cooling mode and an indoor fan may be operated at various speeds to provide additional cooling capacity. Switching between each stage of the two-stage compressor may be controlled by additional control circuitry including a plurality of relays.

Abstract: A method is directed to controlling superheat in a refrigerant circuit containing working fluid. The method includes directing a suction stream of the working fluid from the evaporator through the suction heat exchanger and directing the working fluid compressed by the compressor to the suction heat exchanger. The method also includes controlling a flowrate of the compressed working fluid through the suction heat exchanger. The controlling includes modulating a working fluid control valve based on a determined target saturation temperature for the compressed working fluid. A refrigerant circuit includes a main flow path, a bypass flow path, a working fluid control valve, and a controller for the refrigerant circuit. The controller configured to determine a target saturation temperature for the working fluid flowing through the suction heat exchanger in the bypass flow path, and modulate the working fluid control valve based on the target saturation temperature.

Abstract: An embodiment of a crimped joint for tubing of a climate control system includes a central axis and a first tube including a throughbore, an outer end, and an annular projection. The projection forms an annular chamber within the throughbore extending radially outward from the central axis. In addition, the joint includes an annular seal member positioned within the annular chamber, and a second tube including an end and a radially outer surface. The end of the second tube is inserted into the throughbore of the first tube such that the annular seal member is engaged with the radially outer surface of the second tube and the second tube axially overlaps with the first tube in a region between the end of the second tube and the annular projection of the first tube along the central axis. Still further, the joint includes one or more crimps positioned within the region.

Abstract: A dehumidifying air handling unit for an HVACR system includes a housing, a desiccant wheel, and a cooling heat exchanger. A main airflow path extending through the housing from an air inlet to and air discharged outlet of the housing. The desiccant wheel includes a first end and a second end that are each disposed in the main airflow path and a metal organic framework desiccant that is moved between the first end and the second end. A desiccant wheel includes a metal organic framework desiccant disposed on a surface of the desiccant wheel. Rotation of the desiccant wheel moves a position of the surface between a first end and a second end of the desiccant wheel. The metal organic framework desiccant has an majority absorption-desorption operating band of 25% relative humidity or less.

Abstract: A method for estimating refrigerant charge for an HVACR system is provided. The method includes obtaining one or more system parameters during operation. The one or more system parameters include at least one of compressor suction superheat, system mass flow, expansion device mass flow or opening degree, compressor suction saturated temperature, and compressor discharge saturated temperature. The method also includes conducting a regression analysis on the one or more system parameters to determine one or more predictive parameters for estimating the refrigerant charge. The method further includes determining a predictive model based on regression analysis. The predictive model establishes a relationship between the refrigerant charge and the one or more predictive parameters. Also the method includes estimating the refrigerant charge based on the predictive model.

Abstract: Methods and related systems for operating a climate control system for an indoor space are disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes operating an indoor fan of the climate control system to rotate an impeller of the indoor fan in a reverse rotational direction opposite a nominal rotational direction of the impeller.
