摘要: A plurality of spaced drive means are disposed along a conveyance path for running a carriage along the conveyance path by a forward or reverse propelling force created by the drive means. A main power source and an auxiliary power source are provided for switching a power source from the main power source to the auxiliary power source when the former becomes faulty for running and stopping the carriage at a selected one of the drive means for the purposes of preventing the carriage from stopping at an intermediate point between adjacent drive means.

摘要: A photoelectric transducer device including a plurality of sensor elements made up of photodiodes and blocking diodes on a substrate, connected into a linear pattern which extends in a primary scanning direction, the sensor elements to be driven in a suitable sequence to read image data from an original document. Each sensor element include a first lower electrode formed on the substrate, a second lower electrode, formed on the substrate and electrically separated from the first electrode, a photodiode formed on the first electrode, a blocking diode formed on the second electrode for preventing crosstalk, and an upper electrode formed on the photodiode and blocking diode for electrically connecting them. Lead wires for connecting the sensor elements to output circuits extend in the primary scanning direction on the first lower electrodes with an insulating film in between, the first lower electrodes being selectively connected to the lead wires through holes provided in the insulating film.

摘要: A thermal print head having a base, a glass glaze layer formed on the base by electrically-heated welding, and heating elements formed on the glass glaze layer. A manufacturing method of a thermal print head uses a furnace to accommodate molten glass and a pair of opposed electrodes disposed within the furnace to melt the glass by flowing the current. The method comprises the steps of supplying electric power across the electrodes to cause electric current to flow through glass so as to melt glass, passing an elongated base through the molten glass accommodated in the furnace to form a glass glaze layer on the base, and forming heating elements on the glass glaze layer. Furthermore, an apparatus for forming a glass glaze layer on an elongated base, comprises a furnace having a space to accommodate molten glass therein and a pair of opposed electrodes disposed within the furnace with their opposed faces inclined such that the distance between them is smallest at their upper ends, and the distance increases towards their lower ends. Electric power is supplied across the electrodes. An opening provided at the bottom of the furnace allows the base to be inserted therethrough. A lifting mechanism withdraws the base inserted in the opening after it has passed through the molten glass. A cooling mechanism is provided for cooling the molten glass at the bottom of the furnace.
