    摘要: A method is disclosed which makes use of an intelligent transfer algorithm for a UPS when the UPS is required to switch from a high efficiency mode of operation (VFD or VI) to an independent mode of operation (VFI), as a result of an under voltage condition occurring on the bypass line of the UPS. The method involves performing successive voltage measurements at a plurality of points during a first half cycle of an AC mains (Vout) signal to integrate the Vout signal until a zero crossing of the Vout signal is detected. Successive voltage measurements are used to detect the disruption of the Vout signal and a percentage of missing voltage area from the Vout signal during the disruption. The UPS then supplies a compensation voltage (Vcomp) which is added to the Vout signal to restore the Vout signal to a level at least approximately equal to a nominal AC mains voltage output signal (Voutnominal).

    摘要: Systems and methods are provided for reliable redundant power distribution. Some embodiments include micro Automatic Transfer Switches (micro-ATSs), including various components and techniques for facilitating reliable auto-switching functionality in a small footprint (e.g., less than ten cubic inches, with at least one dimension being less than a standard NEMA rack height). Other embodiments include systems and techniques for integrating a number of micro-ATSs into a parallel auto-switching module for redundant power delivery to a number of devices. Implementations of the parallel auto-switching module are configured to be mounted in, on top of, or on the side of standard equipment racks. Still other embodiments provide power distribution topologies that exploit functionality of the micro-ATSs and/or the parallel micro-ATS modules.

    摘要: Circuits and methods providing a electronic power supply applicable to any dual supply rail systems, which require a smooth and uninterrupted output supply and a replica power path and autonomous mode of operation from the system power supply are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the power supply is applied to a real time clock. An Innovative Replica Power Path concept and circuit implementation ensures the smooth and uninterrupted transfer of power from one input source to the other. The circuit features a Latched Supply Comparator that guarantees the commutation to the Replica Power Path only happens after the voltage is settled. Zero power consumption from the back-up energy source is achieved in the presence of an alternative higher voltage source. The generated RTC supply voltage does not suffer from abrupt changes when the voltage level of the main system power source (battery or charger) is connected or disconnected. The invention allows for maximum utilization of the energy left in the main battery, thus extending the life of the lower capacity backup battery/super-cap.

The UPS may determine to reduce the load on the first phase in response to a request from a smart grid to reduce the load on the first phase or in response to a local determination to reduce the load on the first phase.

    摘要: A power supply unit for use with thermostats or other like devices requiring power. A power supply unit may be designed to keep electromagnetic interference emissions at a minimum, particularly at a level that does not violate governmental regulations. A unit may be designed so that there is enough power for a triggering a switch at about a cross over point of a waveform of input power to the unit. Power for triggering may come from a storage source rather than line power to reduce emissions on the power line. Power for the storage source may be provided with power stealing. Power stealing may require switching transistors which can generate emissions. Gate signals to the transistors may be especially shaped to keep emissions from transistor switching at a minimum.

    摘要: A busway system enables multiple interchangeable power support redundancies to be provided to electrical loads. The busway system includes multiple busways extending through an aisle space, where some busways carry power from separate primary power sources, and one or more busways carry power from a secondary power source. Busways are coupled to loads to provide power support directly to the loads, indirectly via devices that distribute power to the loads via branch circuits, etc. The power support redundancy provided to a load is established based at least in part upon which busways are coupled to the load, and power support redundancies can be changed by changing the couplings of particular busways with the loads. The busways can extend through the aisle space in a staggered configuration to enable load balancing between busways by restricting loads in certain regions of the aisle space to coupling with certain busways and not others.
